Ryanair sucks ass through a giant bendy straw. But you can buy in-flight scratch tickets, which is pretty cool.
 
Last full day in Edinburgh. I had mixed feelings about the place. It's a bit too busy for my tastes but it's an amazing city and we met some really cool people. Toured Edinburgh castle which was a little underwhelming IMO. It felt a lot like the castle that we toured three years ago in Denmark. We ended the night with an amazing sunset. We get up tomorrow morning and hopefully get tattoos to commemorate the trip before we catch a flight back to Ireland for the remainder of our trip. 1000029301.jpg

I got my full Scottish complete with haggis before we head to the tattoo shop.

Be mindful the wrapper of that butter might have PFOE in it. You might want to get it tested. Also you should never eat beans on a trip. You might end up spending most of your time in the bathroom instead of sightseeing. :coffee:

He's about to hop on a plane, if he has a few pints of Guinness on top of that, the airplane can just float across with no fuel needed.....

Welp, I'm getting this information a little too late. Having my first pint of the day too. Luckily we have a short flight back to Dublin.
 
For anyone who might not be aware, Guinness has the ability to produce the most epic farts you can ever imagine. Growing up here, we even refer to the morning-after crap as the "Guinness Shite"; it would be black, and there'd be a lot of it. The stout is so dark, it generates so much gas. My sister used to be a flight attendant with Aer Lingus, and when you have 6 Nations rugby matches in Dublin between Ireland and England, you have 20,000 English fans coming over and they would consume so much Guinness here my sister said when the flights with the English fans would land back in London and other UK airports after the weekend game, when the aircraft door was opened at the other end, the ground staff meeting the plane would get knocked back by the smell!! :rofl: Literally 200 passengers continuously farting pure Guinness fumes for the entire flight!
 
Flight back to Dublin. Ryanair strikes again. Not even my bag was spared this time. My theory is the lady the other day was sweet on me. 😂 300 pounds to check our four bags. We're convinced that they flagged my wife's passport the other day in Dublin or something because they didn't even look at our bags until she handed them her passport and then they said they needed to measure our bags. We bought some lottery tickets on the flight in hopes of recouping some of it but that was a no go. After we landed we jumped on a bus and headed to Galway. Tomorrow morning...or this morning (I've given up on keeping track) we're going on a Cliffs of Moher tour.
 
Another packed day. Went on a bus tour along the coast to the Cliffs of Moher. Saw another castle along the way and stopped at a restaurant. It was really sunny and hot but no fog so we were able to see the cliffs perfectly. Once we got back to Galway, we hit a couple pubs and grabbed an Irish Dog for National Hot Dog Day. Tomorrow will just be a much needed sleep in day followed by exploring Galway. 1000029379.jpg
 
The Cliffs of Moher that is one of the great places to just experience. I also really enjoyed Howth with its amazing views and landscape . 1784169781960.png
 
We just finished the Game of Thrones studio tour in Belfast. It was really cool if you're a GOT fan but it didn't hold a candle to the Harry Potter studio tour in London.

I'm a fan. I was in Belfast last year and didn't do the GOT tour. Based on your feedback, kind of glad now.

Speaking of GOT, was in Dubrovnik, Croatia a couple of years ago and instead of driving straight into town, we took a water taxi from the outskirts, directly into the harbor. Dubrovnik is the city they used to model King's Landing after for the series, and filmed many scenes there, so that was very cool.

I was such a ninny. When I arrived at Trinity Library, May 30ish, 1982, I learned for the first time that I coudn't see the book of Kells because it was touring the US. :sad95:

When Lori and I were here back in 82, there was nothing , no fences, walls, barriers, gift shop. You could walk right down to the edge and get as close as you dared. The stupid ones from time got close enough to accidently dive hundreds of feet into the Atlantic. For others, no accident. A survey notes sixty six such deaths from 1993 to 2017. Fortunately, Lori and I, devout practiceing cowards, stood waaaaay back. A truly beautiful and awe inspiring visit, also on a bright sunny day,

We did stop at another place after the cliffs where there were no fences. I was able to walk right up to the edge. It was a little sketchy because of all of the rock. One guy ate shit and we thought he was going over.

After the GOT tour, I went with my friend that we are travelling with to the Teeling distillery tour. If you are a whiskey drinker, I would highly recommend this. I believe it's the only actual distillery in Dublin. Jameson has a location here but doesn't distill their whiskey there. Then we hit a couple pubs. One was the Brazen Head. Apparently the oldest pub in Dublin then we grabbed a bite to eat to celebrate my wife and I's 28th Anniversary (she's a saint 😂) and had an amazing waiter that we had some great conversation with.

Congratulations on your anniversary! The oldest pub thing should always be taken with a pinch of salt in these Isles - all the old pubs like to claim they're the oldest, with some probably claiming to predate the Big Bang.
