Are the Colts tanking the season to get Andrew Luck?

What about the Dolphins, are they sucking extra hard? I see it as a battle to see who can suck enough..

Really, when you look at both these teams, it comes down to coaching. Either coach could probably manage a talented team well. Neither coach inspires players or makes adjustments well with mediocre talent. That is also a reflection on the respective front offices. These teams have no depth either, so a couple of injuries here and there and there season is ruined.

Miami is losing Henne. So consider them done. It's on par with what would happen if the Jets lost Sanchez :coffee:

If the Jets lose Sanchez, they'd probably gain a net win or two in the regular season. :coffee:

I see the Colts getting better by the end of the season and Miami getting worse.

At the quarter pole it's still a crowded field yet.

All teams 1-3 or worse:

Colts - tough loss with Peyton and the injuries are mounting.

Dolfish - just suck. And in a much tougher division.

Vikes - ditto.

Jags - perennially bad, but in a division where they could be .500.

Rams - already have a franchise QB, but could garner quite a trade package. Dark horse.

Panthers - same as Rams.

Cards - suck

Seaducks - suck

Chiefs - epic fail

Broncos - not saved by the second coming of Christ.

Way too early to put your eggs in any basket yet. Preseason I'd of guessed SF, with all the stars alligned.

Now? If I had to put my money I'd say Dolphish. They suck, the coach is losing the team and front office, and the rest of the division is notably stronger.

They certainly don't appear to be tanking.
No, they aren't. The whole question is numb. Players are going to deliberately tank their careers? Miss tackles and drop passes on purpose? And just what is their motive again? Kerry Collins is going to deliberately play poorly on the last year of his career so that a team he played only one year for can go on to glory after he leaves? Maybe Dwight Freeny wants to be remembered for his last (suck) year and so he fakes tripping to avoid sacking the QB?

My mother used to ask me and my father this question: "Why don't they all just give up for three or four years in a row and lose all their games? Won't the Patriots get better draft picks then? So they'll be good." Shhh, Ma. Not now. The game's on.

I have to assume the OP was joking.

Who says Andrew Luck won't be a bust?

Sssshhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

Don't give up the house recipe for finding HOF QB's in later rounds and subsequent very suitable backups as well.

Part of the plan of BB's wheelhouse picks in the teens and twenties is devoted to the inevitable over-reaching and valueing of teams for QB's, making players that truly belong fall right into their laps.

ROFL

Players? No way. They have to realize every snap will be reviewed, if not by their team than the one considering signing them as a FA.

But the FO can devise and install gameplans and call plays that may not truly exploit the other teams weaknesses to the fullest.

Look no further than right here in our backyard. You think Rivers didn't have that team in the tank a few years back?

It did work for the Penguins.

No, I don't think the Colts are tanking. But, they really struggled to get to 10 wins with Manning last year. Core is getting old. That genius Polian drafted Donald Brown, Anthony Gonzalez, traded a 1st and 2nd for Tony Ugoh and Jerry Hughes. There's your last 4 1st rounders prior to this year. I think Jax looks like the worse team. A rookie qb in over his head. With not much talent around him. If the Colts get poor-mediocre qb play they will beat Jax(2x), KC and maybe Carolina. The NFL is too competitive to tank. I hope Luck goes to an NFC team if he's as good as cracked up to be.

I don't think so. The players look as though they are trying out there to me. If they pull Painter back out after his pretty good performance in the last game and put Collins back in.....then they are tanking the season.

I'm not even certain Andrew Luck fits the Colts any better than, say, Landry Jones who is having a great year so far.

I don't watch college football so I have no clue. But I keep hearing him compared to Peyton Manning.

Besides, if he is who everything seems to think he is, I'm sure we could find a way to build an offense tailored to his strengths.

I have not even see the kid play and I think all great QB's in college are compared to Manning at some points in their lives, so not sure how much that holds. I would actually be very surprised if the colts took a high draft pick on a QB. Not sure why, but I just do not see it, even if they should.
