So you're saying the relationship should be one sided?
 
My dad taught me to -ALWAYS- hold the door for a lady.

That way you can check her ass out as she goes through the doorway without getting caught.

That's not being one sided! You should WANT to do those things for her not because she does them you do them. I always bake cookies and make dinner or do things for people I care about. Do I expect anything in return? no. I do it because I care about them and if it's gonna put a smile on their face then that makes me happy. DO YOU GET IT NOW?
 
I think this is great. Mind you, it's a pretty extreme form of manners and respect, but even if they take just a bit of it with them I imagine they'll still be head and shoulders above the rest.

I would love for a man to show these efforts with me, it lets me know he respects me. Or at least digs me enough to do so. But when I let him know he doesn't have to stand up everytime I do, he respects that, too.

Of course, we gals should also return the favor. We haz special ways to let them know we dig them as well. Make them feel like a man and such. :)

And I'm sorry, but I think the man is the supreme leader of the household. But if he's smart enough, he'll listen to the woman, lol. I guess that might only apply to a true alpha male type leadership, a man who is a man but would do anything to make sure his woman and kids are taken care of.

No matter what, a 50/50 relationship, with the strengths of each role shining (even if it's the woman who wears the pants, emmy ;)), is the ultimate road to perserverance. :)

I know. I'm just giving mikie shit because I think I know what he means, but I think he doesn't know I know what he means. If that makes any sense. lol


But really, I totally agree with what you said, but it should be reciprocated. Not taken for granted. Because if you do all sorts of thoughtful stuff for your significant other, and put them before you, but they don't do the same for you, that's a bad relationship. That's kind of what I was trying to say. I didn't mean like a written deal of "ok, I'll buy you flowers as payment for a nice meal" or "I'll buy you those earrings you like, and you have to pay me with sex" or something like that. lol
It shouldn't just be the man thinking about the woman all the time and doing thoughtful things for her. She should think about him just as much and also do thoughtful things for him.

Ok but this isn't about buying things for eachother. It's just simply a man treating a lady like a lady. Forget the material things.

Right, and the lady should treat the man like he's the most important person in her life, just like he should treat her like she's the most important person in his life.
