BB Planet

He’s pretty much the worst “coach” in the NFL. He’s the anti BB in pretty much every way. If you’re looking for the direct opposite of BB, it’s Mayo.
i loved fitch and his celts. and like the "other" bill,he also coached the cleveland team to moderate success.

Just stepping in here to note that if it's true that Belichick lost total control of the roster in 2020, AND that he pushed to trade Mac after his rookie year and was told he couldn't, a lot of the anti-BB criticism needs to quiet the fuck down.

That said, if he got pissy about the change in circumstances and started phoning it in (relative to his own standards), that's on him. And on the Krafts for doing that.

Lastly, I want to project a bit:
Brady leaves and wins a Superbowl. Kraft blames Belichick for "letting him go." Kraft then pulls control of the roster away from Bill and suddenly the in house press (Unfiltered, etc) turns much more negative on Bill. Mayo gets named HC in waiting.

Just how long prior to December 2023 were the Krafts trying to set the table to make Bill's exit palatable? 🤔

It was a gradual thing.
I'd say early 2019 just before the '19 draft which is when Kraft wanted Bill to let Caserio run the draft. Bill agreed. That was the draft the Pats took Harry who was Caserio's pick. Bill made a sideways comment recently about losing control of the draft his last 4 years here. (Bill and Kraft agreed to bring in Wolf to help Caserio with the 2020 draft and shortly Caserio was gone.)

Then 2 months later, June, '19, Kraft took some players to Israel. That's when Kraft was actively thinking about a successor and that's when he said he identified Mayo as his next HC after Bill. Also remember it was in early 2020 that Bill first mentioned the Pats were last in cash spending, an impt dagger in Kraft's division from Bill. In early '23, Mayo was scheduled to interview with other teams for their HC positions and that's when Kraft gave Mayo a new contract that guaranteed he'd be Bill's successor.

So early 2019 is when Kraft began thinking ahead to Bill's successor as evidenced by Caserio taking over the draft and by picking Mayo as Bill's successor, both occurring in 2019.

That tracks. Good stuff.
