Bill Belichick did NOT make it to the HOF on 1st ballot

It's kind of shitty to have this leaked. Here's the supposed story:

But it also had better mean that Kraft is in and the voters felt awkward giving them both the nod. No other acceptable answer IMO.

That's just dreadful. And cruel.

Several sources who spoke with the coach over the weekend described Belichick as "puzzled" and "disappointed" by his inability to secure support from at least 80% of Hall committee members.

"Six Super Bowls isn't enough?" Belichick asked an associate, referring to the championships he won as head coach of the New England Patriots. He won two more as defensive coordinator of the New York Giants. To another associate, he said, "What does a guy have to do?"

Another source familiar with Belichick's thinking said, "Politics kept him out. He doesn't believe this is a reflection on his accomplishments."

So, let me get this right. He doesn't make it on the first ballot but he has a game plan that's featured in the Hall of Fame.

Politics kept him out. Utter bull. What have they done for football except keeping BB out and putting undeserved players in.

Ridiculous but not surprising. He was hilariously short with most of the media and they hated him for it. Now they get their shot at payback.

Disgraceful. A great illustration of why the HOF is irrelevant.

I can't see a display for Belichick, but at least I can learn about the great Roger Wehrli!

This would be the reason. Media are so self-important, just pathetic.

This result means that no future coach with six championships or fewer will ever be elected on the first ballot.

(Of course it doesn't mean that, but that's what the precedent would mean in a normal universe.)

Has anyone ever declined the HOF? Because I could see Bill telling them to go fuck themselves whenever he finally gets the call. 😂

Also, let me just say. This sounds almost so ridiculous that I wouldn't be surprised if this whole story turns out to be BS.

Hall of Fame is a glorified popularity contest, so this pushes that theory further along.

The man has eight rings and many, many records. The fact he has to be voted in by his still butt-hurt "peers" makes it expected to be honest.

There is no palatable reason for this. What a joke. Disgraceful. I hope he makes it next year and then is a no show for the ceremony.

Reports coming out point to Polian who convinced enough voters to make him wait one year.

The condemnation is pretty universal from the media and players.

This. There's a threshold after which having a vote at all is stupidity. Everyone knows he is and will be a Hall of Famer. It's not like there's a debate to be had or other more deserving candidates. I assume something similar could happen with Brady.

But anyone with a brain sees this for what it is. Grandstanding by butthurt industry idiots. Would love to see the side by side of his resume against the people who make it in this year and having one of these voting clowns explain, using facts alone, the case against BB.
