A 7th round pick& a safety which wasn't a position of need.This don't benefit the pats at all. Only blight side now Chism is a lock to make the team
Well, and don't quote me, I heard from a reliable source that the other teams get to have a say in what a player is worth as well. Sounds crazy I know...
That said...
I wanted to keep all 7. This makes me wonder if there is something more going on with the Db's than we know. Davis has been slow coming back. Woodson left practice with an injury... Gonzales has a hang-nail.

I knew Caserio would be making a "Boutte Call" but I was hoping that discussion would turn into, perhaps, a Pop Douglas for a 7th.

He is a 2nd year nobody who played in only 7 games had 9 solo tackles and a fumble recovery last season.

Googling around on him, he's really a STs guy. As a S, he appears to be better toward the LOS and weaker in coverage. Not exactly a glowing scouting report for a S but perhaps someone in the Pats FO might have always had an eye on him for one reason or another.

I really like Boutte and know little about the new guy. Seems at first glance Caserio got the better of this one but Wolff knows more than I ever will.

Thanks for this, it softens the blow a little. I'd still argue that the Texans needed Boutte far more than the Pats need Reed and, if nothing else, they should have received a higher draft pick in this deal.
But to the point Alyouis made above, I am sure every one of us is overrating Boutte's true market value.
Those three I quoted just above (especially that idiot in the first quote) have no idea what they’re talking about.
