can this "1 day contract" make him the highest paid QB (if extrapolated out to a normal contract) as a wink/nod that he didn't ask to be highest paid while on Pats?
(not actually hitting the real cap or anything)
don't think any of this will actually happen, but if it could be done in a way to "tweak" other QB's it could have some fun potential.
but otherwise, I'm not sentimental about that type of thing

I think that ship has sailed after last year's snub.

Maybe in a few years when time has helped put things in perspective.

I feel like Brady's last year with the Pats, plus his retirement non-retirement snub has some fans soured.

He might get some boos if it were this coming season. And I wouldn't blame the fans for it, either.

Thank you sincerely Tom you were the greatest player ever and we got to see y0u at your peak for 20 incredible years.

RKK, get the aircraft down there and sign him up for the 1 day contract.

I feel like he made a misstep by not mentioning the Patriots in much of his 2022 retirement "thank yous" but I believe it was because he knew that he would return to New England for a proper celebration and be able to share them in more of an intimate setting. Obviously that didn't happen because he un-retired. I expect it to happen in the next calendar year.

But if it doesn't, hey Tom: Go shit in a hat!

I'll afford him then chance, at least.

I think Brady will be relatively terrible in the booth. He lacks the charisma that Romo and Peyton have. But who knows, maybe acting lessons will help.

One thing many of us have figured out by now is that you don't have to be good to be a "top analyst".

I'll be very surprised if he's personable and opinionated. If he isn't afraid to point out whose mistake it was on a particular play even
if he knows full well what happened. Or to anticipate upcoming calls and all the stuff Romo did when he was new in the booth before
he started sucking really hard.

I expect Tom will be bland and non-controversial, like he's been in a thousand pressers and that's all he'll have to do to be a
"success" because........he's Tom Brady and his initial Q factor will be huge until people realize that he was a great QB, but a lousy
broadcaster. He should've taken a year off and not rushed into anything.

I feel bad for Greg Olson because was my new favorite guy and, paired with Kevin Burkhardt, was quite good this season, but TV isn't a meritocracy.

Sorry, Greg. I hope you call a great Super Bowl, but you're getting demoted. Keep your chin up and eventually the cream will rise.

I don’t understand why so many believe Brady will be bland and non-controversial. I mean, of course it is possible, but he also has a very competitive side and he’s not afraid to talk smack either. I mean why would he care at this point if he pisses off some of his fellow peers? He is the goat after all.

I don’t think Fox would’ve hired him if the agreement was he be as bland and uncontroversial as possible. Given how much Brady prepares for everything in his life I would imagine he has been talking with Peyton Manning quite a bit to perhaps try to mix some humor in with his commentating. I wouldn’t expect anything but 100% effort from him. I have no idea if he will be great or fall flat on his face, but I wouldn’t make assumptions about the guy either. He came out as a sixth round pick and went on to be the greatest football player of all time. Excellence and competitive fire is in his blood.

Because literally every commercial and even the SNL skits he was involved with as a host were bland and … meh? GOAT Qb, bland as a speaker.

Okay, so bear with me. Ozzy Osbourne canceled all his remaining tour dates and retired the same day as Brady. This cannot be a coincidence.

I fully expect Osbourne to be the starting QB for the Dolphins opening day 2024. He will run out onto the field wearing #12 while the PA blares Tom Brady singing, "Crazy Train."

It's the only thing that makes sense...

not to go off topic... or Muse will crack me with her (left) hand.... but I can't believe Ozzy is still alive.

as for Brady, I'll give him a chance as an a broadcaster (like I have a choice) but nothing will surprise me. he might overdue it at first (or under due it) so just give it time. he was a "game manager QB" initially so maybe the same as a broadcaster.

I actually think he’ll be pretty good. That is, if he does his homework. Romp was very good when he was doing his homework. He has dropped it off since he began to get lazy.

Something tells me that Brady won’t get lazy.

He's going to have huge shoes to fill since Olson was pretty damn good. He's very informative and most importantly, not annoying. (cough cough Romo).

I think the best way to see if he is going to be decent will be comparing it to his podcast.

I personally don't listen to it. In fact I very rarely listen to podcasts in general when it comes to sports. But if he's able to be more candid and less robotic there, maybe he has what it takes to be a decent to good broadcaster.

Anybody has listened to his podcast that can chime in?

More often than not he's "politically correct" and says "the right things" without getting colorful. He's one of those guys who says 40 words but says nothing in the end.
If you listened to his segments on EEI on Monday mornings after games you know just what I mean.

I think it’s worth noting he was a player for the patriots when he was doing those segments and we all know how the patriots are with divulging too much information. When he went on Howard Stern, the off-season after he left the patriots and signed with Tampa Bay he was extremely colorful, genuine, and quite funny as well. Now Howard Stern has a way of pulling all of that out of his guests for sure, but Brady had his guard down for the first time in his career because he was not being told how to respond.

That being said, I also liked Ollsen quite a bit. I think broadcasting is a whole different animal from being interviewed, especially a color analyst. It is the right combination of being insightful, while also analyzing the game and not being afraid to criticize the players or praise them. I think it is a more difficult job then we probably give those guys credit for. The really good ones make it seem so easy. I do think Brady is going to give it 100% as he does that with everything in his life but his style in many ways is hard to predict. As always, I will be rooting for him to hit it out of the park.

My father spent his entire life as a diehard Pats fan throughout some of the worst teams to ever step on the field. He never got to see Brady play or to experience his team being the premiere team in the league. I will be forever grateful for getting to live through 20 years of dominant football. Thank you Tom.

Mechanical and safe are his on screen traits. The network will coach him hard to be less safe and more opinionated. It should not be hard for him to simply state what he sees that we don't and to talk about why things just happened.

Should be.

i'll be a bigger unsentimental bastard...i HATE retiring #s.
It's gotten really stupid, it should only be done for those extra special players, the ones in the greatest of all time conversations. Brady is obviously one of those. But like the Celtics have 23 retired numbers, it devalues the whole thing. If it were up to me for the C's I'd rip them all down except for Russell and Bird, for the Sox only Ted, Bruins only Orr, that's it.

re: a Brady TV career.....I would think TFB would best rep himself in an in-studio pre/halftime/post game "panel" format than he would in a "Romo role"

Tony started off authentic-as-all-hell, candid, ex-player in-game prescient, "situationally aware" and then morphed into the NBA-like "we need to hump the QB as the only team star-player" to pull in the rube-TV viewers, then tell them what their lying eyes should be seeing and hold them over for the next commercial break

on another TFB aspect ---- wouldn't it be a hoot if Tom & Gisele decide to re-marry for the kids sake and Bob Kraft could yank Elton John out of retirement to serenade the reuniting couple w/ a modified version of this classic at their reception......

And it seems to me you lived your later NFL life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to
When the deflate-gate rain set in
And I would've liked to known you
But I was just a kid
Your candle burned out long before
But your NFL career legend never did

sing it w/ me gang!! 😁
