Caleb Lomo OT Utah Pick #28 Welcome to the NE Patriots

This is a Mike Onwenu replacement, as much as it's a Morgan Moses replacement.

I don't know if I'd make a 1 to 1 connection like that but there does seem to be a decent amount of versatility in this group where things could shake out different as a year or 2 passes.

Vera-tucker has already played both left and right.
Wilson presumably our starting center and his natural position but already played a year at guard.
Onwenwu has played tackle when needed.
Campbell hopefully never moves but the obvious talk of guard is part of this conversation.
Lomu is a LT but for obvious reasons is considered a RT here.
Brown can play guard or center.

I think the simplest set up left to right is Campbell, AVT, Wilson, Onwenwu, Moses with Lomu and Brown the key backups.

The overlap offers excellent gameday flexibility for the 45 man roster but also that offers long-term flexibility to protect against injury and/or stunted growth.

As much as I hate the guard talk for Campbell it would be the most obvious example of what I'm getting at. Not to mention AVTs injury history.

This will likely bring some interesting debate as to what the best combos are short term and long term. Something I'm sure we can beat to death on message boards.

Round 2 targets

EDGE Gabe Jacas
- also Dani Dennis-Sutton, Cashius Howell & Keyron Crawford
WR Elijah Sarratt - (not a need if AJ Brown) other WRs such as Bryce Lance, Zach Branch, Stribling, Chris Bell, Malachi Fields, Germie Bernard
TE Eli Raridon - also Oscar Delp but his production sucks
LB Josiah Trotter - strong physical player. Son of Jeremiah Trotter
CB Brandon Cisse

Any others you want to add?

Catching on to Vrabel and Wolf

Why are Lomu's hands down by his hips? Lomu will be coached up to use his hands to punch & latch on. That's what he's lacking most on those plays against Height.
He was considered an unusual athletic talent too good to pass up. However he needs to be coach up on technique and weight training to get some sand in his pants.
