Celtics

Well, the pressure is now on on the Knickerbockers. Celtics playing with house money. Funny how things turn around.

There was a lot less ISO ball with Tatum being out. It wouldn't surprise me. If they came back and won this series.

Just an all-around well-played game. Kornet was an unexpected X-factor but even without him, I think the C's still win by about 10.

In all 3 L's, all they had to do was play Q4 the same way they’d played Q’s 1-3, and they didn’t. Tonight they did.

In the 3 L’s they stopped moving the ball around and ran their offense entirely through Tatum. They can no longer do that and it will allow the depth of this team to prove their mettle.

Are they good enough to come back from this? Not sure. But even without Tatum, they’ve proven they are good enough to mount a 20-point lead vs. the Knicks. This series should have been a Celtics sweep.

If I am worried about anything it’s that Porzingis is giving them absolutely nothing. He can’t make layups, he is missing free throws, and why in the hell is he ever attempting 3’s? If they can somehow get him moving in the right direction, they will win this series without question.

BTW, I was calling Kornet “The Green Monster” tonight. Lame?

Jalen was all over the floor tonight, that was probably the most relentless I have seen him play in the NBA, he really wanted this win. If they can manage a win in NY I think they take the series.

zingus shouldn't play going forward. He's clearly not feeling well? And cant come close to giving the team. What he usually does. The Celtics should just go with al luke. And give Queta some minutes.

You're absolutely correct on your first point and I'm hoping you're absolutely correct on your second point, LOL. I really like Tatum and I really like Mazulla. But, I can't shake the feeling that Ime Udoka would have put a stop to the ISO BS a long time ago.

Agreed. If the Knicks let this go back to Boston, it’s over. On a side note, if the Knicks win and go on to play the Pacers, Reggie Miller & Spike Lee should call the games.

I wish I posted this yesterday when I heard Surgery was successful....

IF Dallas accepts the terms, I trade Tatum today for the kid from Maine, Cooper Flagg. That way they stink next year, and another high pick.

IMHO, Tatum is soft, he is all rehearsed reactions to everything. the man makes an appointment to yawn.

I hadn't really thought about the possibility of trading away Tatum. I don't know what it would take to move a max contract player but the other team would need to have movable pieces that add up to Tatum's salary.

I don't know that Dallas would make the most sense (for Dallas) since they'd be drafting Flagg to be their future Jayson Tatum, and then have to pay Tatum $54 million to not play for a year. They could conceivably swap Tatum and Anthony Davis but Davis has a player option through 27-28 (when he will be 34). Beggars can't be choosers but I know the new Celtics brass would be looking to trade for expiring contracts in order to keep them below the 2nd apron. Swapping superstar salaries doesn't solve for that.

Well with this season and the vast majority of my personal celtics memory in my rearview mirror. looking back is kinda all there is here. If this has been posted, apologies and of course merge it. Fascinating article from ESPN over the looking back matter. It's a mile and a half long, a little "all over the place", but a good evocative read.

His style of play. Bothers me more than anything else. He's too focused on taking threes. And he doesn't shoot a high enough percentage to justify it. That and the ball dominant, I want to be Kobe ISO ball. he should be shooting over players in the paint. And running off screens.

Knickerbocker was a beer that we would sometimes drink back in my HS days.
I can't remember if they came out with the "stubbies" or something called "Lil Knicks"
That's all I've got other than the Jets suck and I can't remember when the Knicks have been relevant since sometime in the 1970's.

I don't know if that is him or Mazzulla though. Tatum is a different kind of superstar. He is near-elite in almost every phase of the game - but he is not THE BEST at any of them. He can't really "take over" as a scorer. Even Brown is more adept at taking over a game, offensively, than Tatum.

In every game they lost, all they had to do was move the ball around in the 4th. It was "Tatum Ball" which I think is really "Mazzulla Ball." He stops coaching long enough for a massive momentum swing and they can never get it back. This team is designed to be able to play like 5 shooting G/small F and to be successful with that, the ball has to constantly move.

In all the other games, it got to the 4th quarter and your other talented scorers stand around with their thumbs up their butts watching Tatum shoot 35% (I made that # up but it feels close). In 12 minutes of dreadful play with a ~20-point lead, you can't see that coming? 100% on Mazzulla. He is our Barry Switzer.

I love that you’re never to busy for a kind word lol.

Coaching. And the team's over all philosophy. Definitely. Has a lot to do it.

I love our chances tonight. Even we can play even remotely close to how we did Wed with that type of defense, we will roll again.
