College Football 2024 Thread

Looks like Colorado held off N. Dakota St. to win by 5.
Didn't watch the entire game but I like the Bisons QB.

I watched the 2nd half and thought it was a really good and fun game to watch.

The main impression I got was that Travis Hunter has got to be the best College player in the country and one
of the most unique talents I've ever seen. Taking over a hundred snaps a game and still having the energy to dominate
late. He appears to be a good defensive back, but all I know is that he appears to be a lock to be the the first player taken
assuming he comes out this year. I don't really know if he will or not, but.....Jesus. He's an offensive tornado.

That last TD catch was simply an insane catch. Spiderman couldn't have hung onto that ball. He's going to make a shitload
of money assuming he doesn't get hurt. A bona-fide difference-making field tilter. Granted, NDSU might not have great DBs,
but he has to be an instant superstar in the NFL and I never think stuff like that.

Imagine if we actually do suck hard this year (not a chance) and turn out to have the overall one and this kid is sitting
there. Fuck Offensive Tackle, we can get one at 33. Granted, it's way too soon to be talking about any of this, but once the idea
popped into my head I couldn't get it out.

Yeah, he was very good in that game…

I see it your way but Evan Lazar has a different pov. I don't agree with Evan on this at all. You can't pass up a talent like Hunter.

The longer people are terrified that Drake Maye might actually take some contact sometimes, the longer it's going to be for this team to actually turn things around.

They need to draft high end talent, because they're not going to actually sign a high-end free agent.

Also, as near as I can tell, they have 7 'Anybody's on the roster right now.

Promising start from the Husker offense but they are playing UTEP so....

I haven't watched a ton today, but it was some ugly football. Weeks 0 and 1 always feature some ugly football, but I think the transfer portal makes the early weeks even rougher on the eyes. Cohesion is a real thing that matters. And scouting is a Herculean effort, having to watch so many teams to get a view on key players.

If Miami doesn't run the table this year after that, they never will.

Fun fact: Florida had 8 recruits in for a visit for that game, a coach yelled at them for celebrating Miami touchdowns. Half of them locked Florida out after the visit and are leaning toward Miami.

As long as we're talking way-too-early calls for College WRs, I was pretty impressed with Arizona's
Teitiaroa McMillan. I had seen him listed as the 2nd best prospect behind Missou's Luther Burden and
last night he went for 304 yards on 10 catches and 4 TDs. And he's 6'4" 210 4.45 (we'll see, but he looks it).

The early word on the OT class is that it is not as deep as this past April's, but there are some top prospects
who will be available. Campbell is ranked No. 1 heading into the season at LT and his teammate Emery Jones
is at 6 at RT, so LSU games present a twofer to watch.

Anyhow, to listen to most of our fan base and all the pundits we should have our pick of the litter, but I wouldn't be
too sure of that just yet.

I would put Jones at 4, and 2 and 3 best project to OG (though they could be OTs).

Another guy to keep an eye on is Oregon's Conorly. He was a little light in his Adidas this past year, but with weight and strength has serious upside potential, maybe the most in the class. Guys that size (6'7"/310) shouldn't be able to move the way he does (a phrase which, if you can't apply it to a guy, should immediately disqualify him as an NFL tackle prospect) and, if he can move that way at 330 or 335 he could be a serious problem for DEs.

If I study the WRs this year, he's a good one to put up high on my study list along with Travis Hunter, for sure. Kyron Hudson, too.

I had seen suggestions that Hunter is a better DB than a WR from an article in a 2024 NFL magazine that did
a list of top draft prospects, but he isn't the biggest guy and I think he'll end up playing Offense and maybe
take situational snaps on D and return kicks, because it's hard to imagine him playing as many snaps in the NFL
as he is right now. One thing for sure is that kid is in phenomenal condition.

He's like a bigger version of Marcus Jones, who I'm praying has a healthy 2024 for us. I haven't seen a single
mention of him playing a role in AVP's offense, but it stands to reason that he will get a lot more snaps on
that side of the ball (because he is blazing fast and shifty) and could well be a bigger factor in the resuscitation
of our offense than people think.

Michigan got smacked around by Texas, which is no big surprise.
But Notre Dame, after a big road win at Texas A&M, gets beat by Northern Illinois at home is shocking.
