College Football 2025 Thread

One of my best friends is an ND alum, but he says you can’t get a hotel room within an hour of South Bend. Would love to go therrt
Probably further than that. Same for East Lansing (most years).

I usually have the ESPN pre game on too in case they interview somebody or talk about something interesting and because they have 2 former patriots on it. I knew Rex would be dying when he heard this because mangold was one of his dudes. he was sobbing on TV. he told a story about when he knew he was gonna get fired and mangold was hurt and insisted on playing that last game he coached.

I was genuinely very sad to hear the news about Mangold. He was clearly a great guy, you could see it when he played, even if he was on the Jets.

I remember the great battles he had with Big Vince in the trenches over the years. One of those games had Vince mic'ced up, and one play saw him going up against Mangold. Two huge, oak-strong men thundering into each other. You could hear by the noises and grunts, the power each was using. And straight after, both were "So you how you doin', man?" "Yeah, real good, dawg, how you doin'?" Just real respect.

I'm told these teams firing their coaches are waiting for...
Wait for it...

Lane Kiffin.

No, I'm serious. Both Florida and LSU.

Also, for the record, the reason LSU struggled this year has nothing to do with the coaching.

They have like 3rd tier talent in the SEC, because the state of Louisiana is broke and they don't pay their kids. Who was the last non-QB to stay into their senior year from LSU? They all leave early, no matter when they're projected to be drafted. Kayshon Boutte is a perfect example. He could have stayed a couple more years, even though he wasn't projected even to go as high as the 6th round when he was taken.

I wonder what the 2023 draft order for WRs would like if there were a do-over today.

Kayshon Boutte left LSU because Kelly treated him like dirt. I know a few people who were around the team during 2020-2023. Kayshon Boutte was outstanding at LSU in 2020 and 2021 but is 2022 Kelly didn't like him any more Boutte still finished second on team in receptions (48) and receiving yards (538) … Caught at least one pass in every game in which he played yet Kelly talked negatively about him to every scout that asked. Called him a primadonna because he spent some of his time with his son who was born in September 2022. But he still made every team meeting and practice.

Making sense.
Texas A&M had so much speed there was no way LSU would come out on top.
