College Football 2025 Thread

Bama just lost to Oklahoma.

I think that I just heard Muse scream.
It was a game long scream. LOLOL

Hubby came inside and I told him if he was coming to watch the game he could honestly find something else to do. LOLOL

OS defense won the game, not their offense. I almost posted here yesterday saying the boys needed gorilla glue on their gloves for the oopsy daisy way the football came out all the ding dang time.

That missed FG did it for us. The minute that happened I had a sick feeling that would be the difference.

But there is a silver lining. It is their first loss in the SEC so they are still near the top and haven't fudge their path too much. But still a few games to go and we have our Iron Bowl coming at the end of the season.

I want Wein from OS in the draft, good golly a beast.

Yes, the Iron bowl. When I was in the Army at Ft. Benning, we use make trips to Auburn. We were able to see the Tennessee and Miss St. games.
However the Bama game was so big that the had to play it in Birmingham. It was like sold out every year, several years in advance. The Auburn campus was like a ghost town that Saturday.
People in the Northeast have no idea what college football is like in other parts of the country.

When I first moved down South, I was blown away. Now it is a normal part of the season to experience that and the traditions that go with it. It is just so much fun.

Same when I moved to Michigan. It’s a shame the northeast doesn’t get to appreciate tailgating amongst 150 thousand people before a game.

Or rather, chooses not to.

How did Oklahoma QB Mateer look?

He reminds me of Baker Mayfield from past games.

I was not impressed with him in this game. The OS defense won the game. This comes from someone who likes Baker.

A bunch of SEC teams have scheduled games against teams from the Little Sisters Of The Poor conference this week.

They should all drop five positions in the every poll - there should be a "team shows late season cojones" metric for evaluation, and those teams just proved their sacks are empty.

Terrible slate of games today. Notre Dame was winning 21-0 before their first snap on offense, and 28-0 after running two offensive plays.
Kickoff
Pick-6, 7-0
Kickoff
Punt block returned for 6, 14-0
Kickoff
Pick-6, 21-0
...
2nd play from scrimmage was a touchdown, 28-0
...
3rd offensive play of next series was a touchdown, 35-0.

The poor guys in the student section are going to be tired. Every time ND scores, you lift someone small in the area above your head once for every point ND has on the scoreboard. With 4 minutes left in the 1st quarter it's already been 105 times.

Final score ND 70 Syracuse 7.
Cuse is an ACC team, they were 3-7, but no ACC team should ever play that brand of football. That is embarrassing not only for a major program but a major conference.

Syracuse is completely ravaged by injuries. I think they're on their 4th string QB, who they literally had to recruit from the lacrosse team.

They were way more competitive earlier in the year.

Yep. Their quarterback was was a transfer from ND. They started out three-in-1, and he got hurt. They've gone through a couple QBs since then. Now they're three and eight.

Anyone watching the horrendous crime being committed in West Lafayette by the Hoosiers? I predict IU will win by 50 when said and done.

Big win for the Longhorns over the Aggies but I don't think it's enough to get them in the playoffs. 3 L's including one to a terrible Gators team.

I just conducted a nationwide* straw poll, and the number of people who said they would be sad if the Texas Longhorns didn't appear in the playoffs clocked in at 0%.

* Full disclosure: The nation was the Free Republic Of Santa Maria Style Tri-tip Grillers Who Wear Patriots Gear When Grilling During Game Day. Everyone in the nation was polled, so the margin of error was also 0%.

Unfortunately I won't be able to watch the Ohio St vs Michigan game today.
I would like Indiana to be the #1 team in the country going onto the playoof. But not enough to hope for a Michigan win.

I am repeating myself but it is astonishing to see what Indiana football is doing. Never, ever in my life have they been elite at football so it's nice to see an unfamiliar school step up and compete.

(My nephew also goes to Indiana so it helps provide me with a rooting interest.)
