In the 2000s and 2010s when it was Saban and the Bama dynasty, LSU and Auburn popping up every couple of years to be a real threat, Georgia's resurgence under Kirby, Florida was still good, etc. Yes, the SEC was the best conference in college football.
Now? Florida's a joke, Bama is coasting on reputation from the Saban days, Georgia simply doesn't have the athletes on defense it used to have - and yet, we get how great the SEC is down our throats every week. The only reason all those teams were in the top 25 is because they were all overrated and played each other.
Missouri, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, A&M, Oklahoma, Alabama, LSU, Texas - all these teams were in the top 25 all year, and lost to any team that could put up an actual fight against them.
Assuming Mario doesn't turn into a pumpkin (as he sometimes does), I think Miami mollywops Ole Miss.
And then we go into next year hearing how great the SEC is again. It's even permeated into college basketball, which is an even bigger joke, but that's another discussion for another thread.
