Forget everything you thought you knew about embedding media. No need for that messy block of code any more. Just post the link. If it is embeddable, the board will embed it.

Because embedding is done at the time of the post, old imported posts may only show a link until you edit the post.
 
Just embedded a tweet. A banner came up across the top of the screen...said suspicious site and to allow if sure it wasn't. Kind of weird. I allowed and it showed up for me but not clear if it will show up for others.

Another test. I used the brackets with IMG to get rid of the Giphy link.
