Crunch Time! Colonel Pulls Off Week 1 Shocker
Bears' Collapse Seals Nail-Biter Victory in Season Opener

By A Staff Reporter

Well, ladies and gentlemen, if Week 1 is any indication, we are in for a rollercoaster of a season. The pigskin was flying, the point spread was a heartbreaker, and the battle for gridiron supremacy in Grog's legendary pickup league came right down to the wire.

When the final whistle blew and the dust settled on a wild opening weekend, it was Col. Crunch who stood alone at the top of the mountain, posting a massive 12 points. The Colonel can send a thank-you card to the Windy City, as the Chicago Bears’ now-infamous clutch choke job proved to be the deciding factor, securing a razor-thin one-point victory.

Left staring up at the peak were hard-luck runners-up Jeff Freeman and league newcomer Ethan Drake. Both turned in a powerhouse 11-point performance, only to have victory snatched from their grasp in the final moments. You have to think that one will sting for a while.

Meanwhile, a hungry pack of contenders is nipping at their heels. The quartet of Dave Nelson, Ian Brown, Julie Morency, and Megan Mickelini all finished just two points off the pace, landing in a four-way tie for third with a very respectable 10 points each. They've proven they have what it takes and are poised to strike in Week 2.

Early Season Standings

As this was the inaugural clash of the season, the league-wide standings mirror the weekly results. It's a long season, folks, and anything can happen.

On To Week 2!

There's no time to lick your wounds or rest on your laurels. The action gets rolling again this Thursday night with a premiere showdown as the Washington Commanders march into Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers. It's an early-season tilt between two squads with serious playoff aspirations. Get those picks in early!

Thanks for playing, and have a great week!

Un-BEAT-able! Colonel Crunch Goes Back-to-Back!

Crunch Dominates Week 2, Solidifies Lead

Folks, somebody check the rulebook, because Colonel Crunch is playing on a different level! Just when we thought the parity was back, the Colonel put the league on notice with a second consecutive weekly victory. Can't stop, won't stop!

It was a wild Week 2 that saw a massive four-way tie at the top of the leaderboard. The Colonel was joined in the winner's circle by David Goodrich, Grog, and Colton Mickelini, who all put up a stellar 12 points. But the story of the week is Crunch's incredible encore performance. Someone get this man a ticket to Vegas, because he is on an absolute heater! He’s not just picking winners; he’s making a statement.

Just behind them, a traffic jam of contenders formed, with a whopping seven players all tied up with 11 points. The competition is fierce, and nobody is backing down.

The Season Standings

After two weeks of hard-fought battles, the cream is rising to the top. Thanks to his back-to-back masterclasses, Colonel Crunch now sits alone in first place with a commanding 24 points. He’s the king of the hill, but the chase pack is hungry.

Nipping at his heels are David Nelson and Ian Brown, tied for second with 21 points each. And right behind them is another massive logjam, with five players including Grog, Brady Dearing, and Julie Morency all knotted up at 20 points. It's still anyone's ballgame, but they're all looking up at the Colonel.

The season is young and there are plenty of games left to play! A huge congratulations to our Week 2 winners. Now, it's time to get your head in the game for Week 3.

Get those picks in and let's see if anyone can stop the Crunch-time express
