Gronk was also upset by the way the patriots dealt with his injuries specifically back in 2012 with his formarm. He also had issues with his contract as well. This notion that he should just be thankful for his time with the patriots is myopic. And let’s not also forget that he was having a tremendous Super Bowl versus the Eagles ane he was just as angry as the rest of the offense of players that Malcom Butler was benched. I think we all need to realize that is pretty much when Bill lost both Brady and Gronk and things just got compounded from there.

Bill "lost" Brady and Gronk when it finally dawned on them that they weren't going to run the team, their duplicitous attempts to curry special favor from the Krafts wasn't going to work and when they finally realized that, despite their considerable intelligence and ability to manipulate people, Bill is smarter than both of them put together. That's when they quit on the team in terms of being "all in." They continued with the physical effort, but they mentally checked out. Hell, Brady evidently was conniving to join the Dolphins long before he left here, and, Gronk was mentally gone beginning with his "Vroom, vroom" on stage performance. They just quit.

i have 0 issue with players moving on for more $, or whatever. no one owes the pats anything beyond doing their best while under contract. that said, for guys to completely deny the advantages they had and the learning they got while patriots is

The funny thing is the game came down to the final couple of minutes and Brady fumbled leading to an eagle field goal making it an 8 point lead with a minute and change to go the offense couldn’t get it done ...

I agree with your second point but I think it speaks to the fact that things were not good for Gronk here despite the success on the field.

It's amazing to think that the two greatest players at their positions in NFL history can't stand the team they played with for the majority of their success. I can't think of another example of that happening in the sports world.

I am not siding with them, I feel it is very sad given what was accomplished was historic. I am just pointing out that they want nothing to do with the Patriots so whatever happened was really bad given the majority of their success was here. I mean they have their reasons - there are two sides to every story - but whatever happened completely severed them from all things NE/Pats. That is tragic IMO.

Regardless, when you are with a team as long as they have, swallow your pride a tad, if nothing for the people who cheered you in, bought your expensive gear and more. It's not required but have some sense or compassion of how and why you are where you are, IMHO.

I do wonder if the problems they seem to have should be laid at their feet not the Patriots. Especially if they can't distinguish between the two.
