The original story has far more intrigue and big money stakes than the Cliff Notes version by PatsPulpit.

Kraft and PK sat down before the SB after the deflategate punishment year. The "FU tour" for Brady, Kraft and the Patriots. 28-3
They had a candid conversation and Kraft shared some wisdom.

My favorite Kraft line was about money. “The key to success in business, and the key to life, really, is creating aligned interests with smart people,” he said. “Winning football games has been more important to me than making money. Winning is what turns me on. Money is pretty good, but a shroud has no pockets.”

If you want the real story, read this. It may be the best work by PK in his career.

I used BSF’s link to get to this link. Great story.

Isn't that the case for most of us? And I met Lori in a pick-up bar while Krafty met his beloved at Synagogue.
Any better place to seek out a well to do spouse than at Synagogue? :coffee:

Cheers, BostonTim

Met mine totally by chance. The story is long (it took 18 months to get her to go out with me). We will be married 27 years next Friday....

Yes. Kraft is extremely lucky. More than the regular person, times 1,000,000 x fold...Absolutely. He met his wife (his initial fortune) at a synagogue. Married into a cardboard fortune. He does help build up his in-law's business up many times fold (he deserves credit for this). He buys the Patriots from that fortune. He hires Parcells (BB connection). He hires BB after almost passing over him for Dom Capers (his finest moment for the Patriots). BB drafts TB12 (needle in a haystack). His team wins 6 superb owls.

So many "what-if" moments that could have derailed the Patriots. Would Dom Capers be able to win 6 rings? I'm a Bledsoe fan, but, would he be able to win 6 superb owls?

Babooshka is mother/fucking lucky. Yes. Was he a part of it all? Sure. He's a savvy businessman. He was smart enough to step aside (somewhat) and let BB do his job. He was a bit meddlesome though here and there (buying groceries and cowering to Goodell).

:coffee:

Clearly you don’t understand the difference between “luck” and “being able to make intelligent decisions.”

Sometimes luck is finding yourself in the position to make a decision or act.

The skill comes in recognizing it and acting on it.

Ha, sort of like me. My wife didn't want a man in her life at that time but I somehow knew that she was the only one I wanted. Our dating was more like stalking on my part. Pushing the friendship boundary as much as I could without setting off alarm bells in her, and backing way off when she seemed skittish. Just being patient and doing the nice little things and eventually wore her down. (In my defense, she never actually said, "Leave me alone," and I never gave her cause to. 30 years last January.

Since we went tangent, will drop this.

I met mine in Psychology class in college. Yep, psychology class. I had to tell James, his best friend who was also my best friend, we were the three amigos, in college to tell him to ask me out. I guess I got tired of waiting. LOL

We are decades in this thing call marriage.

I've spoken before of my meeting of my dearest, Melissa on the first day and in the first class of college.

She was desperately late to class, disorganized, dropping her books on the way through the door.

Teacher giving her a ration of shit.

Because of her tardiness there was only 1 desk left, in the back of the classroom, next to me. Sorry to Missys mom and pastor dad but that moment in all actuality started our lives. Our souls met immediately and while lovers no longer, dunbass JL. Lol we are incredible friends to this day and take care of each others souls with a love for the ages.

Luck? Chance meeting in that class, maybe. But maybe the law of attraction, which I've often rejected may have been in play somehow. Do the right things and the right things happen? Maybe and quite possibly yes.

I can say one thing, as fortunate as we were for that meeting, In no way did luck play a role in our continuing love an existence in each other's lives.

Charachter, however imperfect at times, respect and love because of it is the key. 💖🤟

Did Kraft get lucky? I highly doubt it.

Wonderful and congrats Muse. ❤️👏

Not sure if its much of a tangent as it more seems to approaching universal principles arising from a look at our concretes.

Funny about the getting tired of waiting for him to ask you out thing.

When I was young I worked at the Shaws deli I Brockton, MA.

This beautiful young redhead and I mean beautiful with long red hair, porcelain skin and magnificent green eyes started coming every day and waited for me to wait on her ordering a 1/4 pound of American cheese every day.

Apparently she saw me walk by her apartment every day on my way to work with my Shaws hat on and something hit her about me. Lol

Me, being epically polite and a bit shy and often oblivious to existential things, she stepped up one day and said, "Since yer not getting the hint, I'm asking you out. Wanna have dinner?"

Um, hell yes!!!

Wow, blew me away.

I can relate a bit to your husband.

A tangent here? Maybe. :) But principles always follow. :)

Love ya Muse. 😘

OK. JL went off so I will add a funny part of my courtship of Mrs. Aloyouis.

18 months after we first met I told my housemate to invite her to a party we were having to see my little brother off to the 82nd Airborne. She came. I asked her and she said yes and to get her number (yes, I still didn't have it myself after all this time) from my house mate. As we sometimes say here in the midwest "Cool Beans". The next day whilst picking up beer cans/bottles from every horizontal surface in the house (it was a good party) I told my house mate she said to get her number from him. He laughed and said "you too?". Turns out I wasn't the only guy to ask her out that night that she told to get her number from John. I told John NOT to give the other guy her number for a couple for weeks. He agreed. With a timer on my head I moved fast and took her to a fancy place in Grosse Pointe MI I could not afford. We had a fantastic time. Dinner could not have gone better. I was elated and half way through dinner I asked her out again and was happy she said yes.

This is where the stupid in me came out. We were having such a good time and really hitting it off better that I could have hoped and I told her what I told John to do. Instant pissed and told me that I was to rectify that when I got home. The rest of the date went fine. I recovered a little bit and had her smiling again after a few minutes. She did not cancel the 2nd date and I got a hand shake at her front door. Two weeks went by (she went to CO for a friends wedding) we had a 2nd great date at a fun place in Detroit (yes, they exist) and the rest is history. Got a hug this time.

Oh, she did go out with the other guy in between our dates. Our kids (my daughter in particular) loves the story.

Oh yeah, this thread....

Umm.. Bill Belichick is the best and Mac is gonna win Super Bowls for the Patriots.

JL went off? Yeah maybe on a tangent maybe but these going offs always carry principles underlying the words, even and sometimes especially the ones which use examples from my insanely unique and apparently singular life in play.

You're very welcome my friend. Let the floodgates open and free the rivers where we all connect as wonderfully human beings.

But, um. Removing beer cans from every horizontal surface. You and OPT are killing my spatially challenged ass with shit like this. 😆

For real. A number of years ago a psychiatrist had me take an IQ test.

He was blown away by my score, mostly in my scores for verbal and conceptual subjects. Then he looked at my abject failure at spatial cognitive understanding and said, "You're a successful painter and businessman in the field? JHC, how?"

😆😆😆

Not entirely certain but successful I was.

So keep yer bullshit geometric crap to a minimum for my sake, please. Lol

Oh. Wait. Just wrapped my head around what horizontal means at the memory of my high school business and economic teacher discussioning horizontal conglomerates.

Damn. Lol

Great story man. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
