BB coached him well.

This might well be in here but I don't recall it. Nice compilation of all the playoffs game winning drives.

Thank you for posting that. It was nice to be reminded of all the contributions by a large cast of talented and dedicated athletes in the Patriots organization.

The NFL has not seen very many players like Troy Brown - I hope his vital role in the team's success is never forgotten.

So what would Patriots Twitter and Instagram have looked like 20 years ago? Enter Patriots Time Machine. With this collaboration between the Patriots Hall of Fame presented by Raytheon Technologies and the New England Patriots, we will find out.

Starting on March 2, 2021, Patriots Time Machine will chronicle the Patriots on Twitter ( twitter.com/patstimemachine ) and Instagram ( Instagram.com/patstimemachine ), posting transaction graphics, game photos, video recaps, press conference highlights, Patriots Football Weekly analysis, news on the stadium construction, pop culture memes. The 2001 Patriots will be recreated as only social media can.

Fans can also follow along on Patriots.com, at patriots.com/patstimemachine for game recaps, photo galleries and digitized articles from Patriots Football Weekly. Launched in 1995, PFW was the official newspaper of the New England Patriots for over 24 years. All the opinions, analysis and coverage of the time will come back to life.

If you're looking for even more coverage celebrating the 20th anniversary of the 2001 season, later this fall the team will launch a serialized podcast chronicling the moments that led to the first championship. Even if you lived through that season, the details will be fascinating. From "I remember that" moments to details not known to most fans, you'll be hooked from the first episode.

The first article from 2001 discusses the beginning of the Pats dynasty though we didn't know it at the time. This is going to be great.

Two notable paragraphs are relevant to what was to become in 2001.

"While the team expects to lock up Bledsoe long term, it might also be in the market for a more reliable veteran backup unless holdovers Tom Brady or Bishop can fill that role following the release of veteran John Friesz. Bishop has attempted just nine NFL passes in his two seasons with the club, and Brady was the 199th pick in the 2000 NFL Draft."

"New England released veteran linebacker Chris Slade last week to save $1.7 million against the cap and will need some help at that spot. Ted Johnson, Tedy Bruschi and Andy Katzenmoyer return, but look for the team to add a veteran free agent. The big-ticket linebackers available include Jamie Sharper, Dwayne Rudd and Dexter Coakley, but the Pats won't be entertaining that group in Foxborough anytime soon. If familiarity is a factor, Belichick and Crennel could seek the help of two former Jets linebackers cut on Jan. 21 – Bryan Cox and Roman Phifer. Both are long in the tooth but could add veteran leadership and depth."

Well done.

Cheers

There are currently ten active QBs that have started a Super Bowl. Three in the AFC, seven in the NFC. Of the ten, six have won a Super Bowl. Eight of the ten QBs on the list are in their 30s or will be by the time of the next Super Bowl. Note that the AFC South and the NFC East have zero QBs with Super Bowl experience.

AFC East: Patriots - Cam Newton
AFC North: Steelers - Ben Roethlisberger
AFC West: Chiefs - Pat Mahomes

NFC North: Packers - Aaron Rodgers
NFC North: Lions - Jared Goff
NFC North: Bears - Nick Foles
NFC South: Falcons - Matt Ryan
NFC South: Buccaneers - Tom Brady
NFC West: 49ers - Jimmy Garoppolo
NFC West: Seahawks - Russell Wilson

The chances of two new QBs appearing on this list next February are slim, I think. It's possible we'll get one new name, but if it happens, it will probably be from the AFC.

QBs drafted by the Patriots during the Belichick regime have 11 appearances and 7 rings
QBs drafted by other teams have 13 appearances and 5 rings

Of course, the quarterback isn't solely responsible for Super Bowl appearances and victories - but looking at the QB position and the success engendered by it (or lack thereof) is a good metric of overall franchise acumen.

One way of looking at this is that it takes 31 other teams (GMs, coaches, and scouting departments) to approximately equal what Belichick and his staff have accomplished.
