IT’S VRABEL!!!!

So what do we think happens for the coordinators? Is it Josh at OC? Would he consider bringing back Flores as DC?

Very happy it's official. Now what's the word on the coordinators? I feel it's pretty important to see who's gonna be coaching with him.

Did Flores get fired? because I don't think Minnesota's gonna give permission for the patriots to interview somebody on their staff that would just be moving to another same exact position on the patriots. The only way they would not be allowed to deny it is if vrabel were going to make Flores assistant head coach (a promotion from dc).

Here is a dumb question that was like an intrusive thought.

Rex Ryan seems to want to coach again, interviewing with the Jetes.

What would you think of him as DC?

One of my absolute favorite vrabel moments:

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel wants to win a Super Bowl, and after two decades of marriage and a couple of kids, he's willing to sacrifice his own penis to make that happen.

While being interviewed on the 'Bussin' With the Boys' podcast by former Titans linebacker Will Compton and current offensive tackle Taylor Lewan, the 43-year-old Vrabel was jokingly asked: 'Would you cut your d*** off for a Super Bowl?'

Framing his response pragmatically, Vrabel gave an impractical answer.

'Been married 20 years,' he said, as quoted by PaulKuharsky.com. 'Yeah, probably.'

Perhaps just as importantly, Vrabel already has two sons with wife Jennifer, and after 20 years of marriage, sex just isn't the priority it once was.

'You guys will be married for 20 years one day,' he said. 'You won't need it.'
Pushing the issue further, Lewan asked his coach what his wife's reaction would be.

'If you come home with a bag of ice, and Jen is like "Oh honey what did you do?"'

'"I cut …my dick off, we're gonna win a Super Bowl,"' Lewan continued. 'She'd be like "eh," or would she be upset?'

Apparently Mr. and Mrs. Vrabel share the same priorities.

'She'd be like: "Do you want me to do it?" he said. '"Do you want to do it now?"'

Vrabel played for the Chiefs for 3 years so he most likely developed some good qualities. I like the hire!

How does his style match the roster/Vrabel's philosophy?

If it's a fit I'd say hell yes.
In general his defense started as a descendant of his father's 46 defense, but more adaptable and versitile.

Rex Ryan's defensive philosophy is often described as "organized chaos." Here's a breakdown:

* Aggressive and Attacking: Ryan's defenses are known for their aggressive nature, featuring frequent blitzes and pressure packages designed to disrupt the opposing quarterback.

* Multiple Fronts and Coverages: He employs a variety of defensive fronts (3-4, 4-3, etc.) and coverages to keep offenses guessing and off-balance. This constant shifting makes it difficult for quarterbacks to read and react.

* Focus on Turnovers: Ryan prioritizes creating turnovers through aggressive play, forcing fumbles, and intercepting passes.

* "Bend But Don't Break" Mentality: While aiming for takeaways, Ryan's defenses sometimes allowed yards but focused on limiting big plays and ultimately forcing punts.

Key Characteristics:

* Blitzing: A hallmark of his defenses, Ryan loved to blitz, often sending multiple players from different angles to confuse the offense.

* Physicality: Ryan's defenses were known for their physicality and intensity, aiming to intimidate and disrupt opposing offenses.

Impact:
* Ryan's defenses had success during his time with the New York Jets, leading them to two consecutive AFC Championship games.

* His aggressive style has influenced many other coaches in the NFL.

Criticisms:

* Some critics argued that his aggressive style could sometimes lead to big plays against his defense.

Overall, Rex Ryan's defensive philosophy was a unique blend of aggression, creativity, and personality. While not always flawless, it produced some memorable moments and established him as one of the more distinctive defensive minds in the NFL.

As a bonus, most Jets fans at Jets Nation are pissed. Early last week they were rejoicing that Mike had interviewed for the Jets HC job.
They thought that he would want to be HC of the NY Jets. Now they can't believe that he chose the Patriots.
