Agree. I'd have thought his value as a continued member of the Patriots would exceed a compensatory 5th round pick in the draft and I would have expected them to keep him if they couldn't have at least fetched a 4th in return.

My guess is that Kraft needs the support of some other owners for something, and this is a favor to Jerry Jones that will be repaid with HoF membership or some issue that will be resolved in some kind of league committee meeting.

not to mention, let Josh work with him for a year and develop him further. right now he's not only the backup,but he's a cheap backup. now you have to replace him with someone who's almost assuredly going to be more expensive and probably also has never played in josh's system. There is literally 0 reason for this unless Joe Milton smashed somebody's girlfriend/wife.
