Judon to the Falcons

Why? Do you not understand that Kraft opened the wallet to pay every single young player on the team? They are building the future, not to mention they already bumped Judon’s salary last offseason and he wanted them to do it again coming off a season he missed 10 games? No, this was a smart move that takes into account what they are trying to build.
Such an awful take.
You don’t rebuild team by keeping the players that contributed to a 4-13 record.

You go out, with a huge amount of cap space, and fill those huge friggin’ gaps on your team with prime free agents.

Tell em, which high caliber free agents did Kraft sign this off season?
Of course he’s a cheap bastard. His own players called him out on it on that report card.

Our nine 2025 draft picks currently

1st (own)
2nd (own)
3rd (own)
3rd (via ATL)
4th (own)
5th (own)
7th (own)
7th (via LAC)
7th (via TEN)
Acknowledging that it’s way early, I’m curious to know what people might guess the target would be (position or player) if we end up with a top five pick. This is assuming QB works out and that some positions like RB aren’t taken that early anymore.

It's way too early for this discussion but tell me how many OTs are considered top 10 and how Wallace shakes out this year at OT and I'll take a stab at answering.
Right now, OT is the obvious choice but that could change.

Just looking at how Maye seems to be able to move in the pocket….. I’m not sure they need an outstanding LT. Obviously it would be nice, but he could be an average starter, and if Maye can step up with good interior protection it’ll be ok. A good QB can make an average Oline look a lot better.
It’s going to be interesting to see how Wallace grows this year.

I don’t understand resigning Bourne.

What FAs did you want them to sign this year? I thought the overall crop of players was lousy. Some of the guys I wanted early on got resigned by their own teams ...

How about a decent OT?

Former Bengal Jonah Williams, who inked a two-year, $30 million pact with the Cardinals, would have been one consideration to pursue. Former Cowboy Tyron Smith, who landed with the Jets on a one-year, $6.5 million deal, is another. Jermaine Eluemunor, who played for the Patriots in 2019-20, landed with the Giants (two years, $14 million) as he followed his position coach Carmen Bricillo there.

Donovan Smith is among those OTs currently available as a FA. He started 12 games at left tackle for the Super Bowl champion Chiefs last season.

Awful take? Really? Please explain how over paying a guy that missed 10 games last season not to mention who you already gave a bump the previous season in which he also missed time, is smart? Yet paying the young talent that will be the future of the team they are trying to build is in your mind stupid? Do you live in some weird alternate reality?

His injury has nothing to do with his value. He's healthy now. Players outperform their contracts all the time and get rewarded. No one said to overpay him.
Getting a 3rd round pick for him was good value so I like that part of it. Ironic to me that now that Judon is on a contender he's willing to play without a new deal since he's a FA in '25.
He's betting on himself.

I question signing jags 32 yr old Hunter Henry and 30 yr old Bourne, both injured last year and injured now, and then drawing the line at Judon who is a real difference maker.

Judon with the Pats
  • 38 games
  • 32 sacks
  • 2 forced fumbles
  • 2 fumble recoveries
  • 133 tackles
  • 33 tackles for a loss
  • 4 passes deflected
  • 2 Pro Bowls

I can’t remember how much Henry is making, but I’m glad he’s back. It’s often repeated that a vet TE is a rookie QBs best friend.
I don’t understand bringing back Bourne. Is he better than Osborn? Is he going to keep Polk off the field? Or Baker by the second half of the season?
He’s a jag, he just happened to be the best of a bunch of bad options in the WR room the last few years. It’ll probably take him most of this season to totally get back from his knee injury, and he was never better than average to begin with.

The difference between Judon and Bourne, Henry is the message being sent to the team.

Would Judon still be here if he didn't have a hissy fit?

Babooshka and Jr wanted Bourne back…my opinion.

Because the Falcons will make the playoffs, and the Bears might win 5 games.

That's the right answer from Judon's perspective if more money wasn't his goal.
What about from the Pats' pov, though? Wouldn't they have chosen the Bears' more valuable 3rd rnd pick over the Falcons' 3rd rnd pick?
Yeah. My tin foil hat came out of the closet as I thought about that answer for half a second.

Edit:
And 45 minutes later I found this

It wouldn’t surprise me at all, even with team schmuck at the reigns.
