Keeping the board alive with the help of your voluntary donations.

I'm trying to figure out where would be an appropriate place to post a pic lol where is the random thoughts thread?
how about here?

Here is something that crossed my mind on hosting costs and backup size…. And is near and dear to many of hearts….. The Girlie Pic thread :)

I generally do links back to the source, but after one long-time source dropped all their hot pics, all those were lost/broken. So i more frequently pasted the actual image and gifs i always pasted in. Can you tell what threads (or users) are chewing up storage? Should we try to always link vs upload images/gifs?

Images always! Let the bandwidth mavens figure it out.

Hey thanks for the question, sorry I haven't been around much, going through some shit, but once that's resolved I should be back more. I do stop by daily to get rid of spam accounts.

To answer your question, no I don't break even. The hosting is expensive. The first year came a little closer, but some subscriptions have died off and others gave a one time amount that first year.

In April of last year, I posted a financial report of costs and donations for transparency because I know often with these kinds of donation models, the donators often wonder where their money goes. The first year net cost to me was $517 or $43 a month.

I didn't do one this year, but I'm sure those numbers have risen a little. Just like everything else.

It's okay. The board is safe, stable, and proactively protected, and that was my main goal. I do appreciate having some of the costs offset, it helps, especially right now. But I will always do my best to keep the place open and stable no matter the cost. Thank you to all who have donated and to those who still are. I am very grateful.

You are being more than gracious with us. I think there are enough people that post on this board that should amply cover the expense of running it.

The Catholic church has an annual bishop's appeal where they have all the parishioners pledge whatever amount to raise x number of dollars. I think we need an annual reminder to the group that this shit ain't free and it's not fair that you bear the burden. I'm only contributing $5.00 per month and would happily do more (and I'm pretty much just a lurker here)

I'll start a new thread to garner more interest if you think it'll do any good.
