Obviously comfortable with what they're getting in Izzo and LaCosse for now.

That or Gronk's gonna be back for the stretch run.

The Watson move frees up $2M in cap space. Could they be prepping for a bigger move down the road?

trading bennet, who is seeing less and less time, could free up 2.5 more

Bennett plays very well when he's in there. I think they're managing his minutes til it counts.

Cap space can from KVN and a number of other players they plan to extend. Easy to accomplish.

pats always like to have a couple mil in space available to handle emergencies, i think they used it all up on the AB fiasco and this is simply a move to restore cap space. I really don't think this is in preparation of a bigger move - just simply gaining back some needed roster flexibility.

so far AB has cost the pats $9mil in cap space and the loss of Watson/Thomas/whoever else they might have gotten with the $, with 0 in return - looking like the worst FA move of the BB era...

If AB was here (Kraft fucked up), he would have helped the offense out.

We need a better TE. We need more receivers. Tom wants more veteran receivers.

WTF?

Easy fix, activate Watson. :coffee:

That thing Watson posted doesn’t sound like a guy expecting to be activated.

It appears that BB is happy with what he's got

It could bite them in the ass...unless Gronk is coming back.

Why? How is it different than it is now? Except you have a 37 year old TE that cost 2 mil against the cap which we don't have, and everyone is talking trades and such. Who gets cut so he can stay? How good of shape is he in? Hamstrings tend to pull after time out, then what?

It's simple...Watson couldn't make the team. He couldn't beat out the 53rd player. The $2M in cap savings isn't the reason he was released; that money was already accounted for. How valuable could Watson be to the team if the 53rd player was considered more valuable than him? Not very.

Moved on to the Giants.
