Looking at the Patriots 2024

We could do a Bears/Cards double-karma thread.
we might need to include Panthers in there too... because if Bryce Young doesn't improve and they have #1 pick, they can do a Cardinals and dump the failed #1 QB pick (whats his name) when they picked Kyler.

Yep, that was a pretty dumb move.

Got him for basically nothing. If he gets his head screwed back on for next year, he could be a GREAT pairing with Gonsalez. He didn't win any games for us this year, so I think it ended up being a brilliant move. Again, assuming he fixes whatever is currently wrong mentally.

i dunno they got him for pennies and the chargers were on the hook for his guaranteed money

So its pretty risk free for the Pats, they can cut bait with him at any time

I said it was a pretty dumb move because IF he had his head on right he might have accidentally helped the team get another win or two. Then you are picking 7th or worse. This team was not worth upgrading at any point this season because wins, just hurt you in end.

I am already seeing it. The shock when people say let's move up to one if you want Williams or Maye or whomever. Just get it done, then they get told it would take this years 1st, second and next years 1st and second. They are stunned. This is why the Pats f-ing around and finding out almost cost them dearly. It isn't as good as it should have been anyways but at least they salvaged a little something.

ahh i see

yea i dont think id be in favor of moving up to 1 or 2 given the cost... the player you take there has to be a GUARANTEE #1 QB.. but we've seen more Zach Wilsons and Trey Lances than we've seen CJ Strouds

I hope we stay pat and get a dominant player at either QB, OT or WR.. but id be ok trading back into 5-10 range, still getting a blue chipper and picking up an extra 2nd rounder or something, because we have quite a few holes to fill and once you get to the 4th round and beyond its a complete and total crapshoot (i think its 50% failure rate as soon as you hit 2nd round)

Unless Harrison Jr is still there at #3, I can see BB doing that. He'll probably have a deal in place with the option to get out of it if he's there, which I doubt.

Well, now that BB's gone, and we have a new HC, we can stop yapping about past history in at least this one 2024 thread.

So, as bad as we sucked last year, we had a great Defense WITHOUT Judon or Gonzalez. Should have an awesome defense next year.

We have the thrid or fourth highest cap money available in 2024 to sign FAs.

We have the 3rd pick in the Draft

We're on to 2024.

Maybe but doesn't it depend on who is drawing up the game plan and who is calling the defensive plays?

I suppose. It's just hard to imagine we would not get better by adding Judon and Gonzalez unless we somehow mange to lure Joe Collier or Rod Rust out of retirement. I guess if would depend on if Steve Belichick remains. He's the guy that called the defensive plays (judging by the fact he was the one talking into his mic with the play sheet covering his lips while we were on D).

as you suggest, if the new staff doesn't coach well and put guys in the proper positions to succeed,it could happen. look at all the careers of talented players in not ideal situations rehabbed by bb and staff. gilmore, moss, welker, etc. part of the big frustration for me this year was the offendive side and st coaching.

The two most important hires left are offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator. Depending on who those two people are, it will decide just how fast this team can turn around as soon as next season, obviously depending on the draft, and finding a serviceable, free agent quarterback.
