Looking at the Patriots 2024

It's the same for the last 10 seasons.
It's the same for the last 25 seasons.
It's the same since Kraft bought the team.

Yes, it sure is. Lucky for Kraft that Bill and Tom camouflaged the problem so well.
Unless Kraft opens his purse the Patriots are destined to pull up the rear of the NFL until he sells the team.
I chuckle when I hear people say this will be a 2 or 3 year rebuild.
That dynasty wont ever be built again bc the 2 men who built it have left the building.
You get what you pay for and Kraft won't ever pay enough.

Are you claiming that Kraft is not tight with the funds?! Even with the evidence clearly there? One key reason why Kraft tolerated Bill was able to work miracles with the roster on a shoestring budget, and they had a GOAT QB who was willing to take team-friendly deals. Bill was unusual in that he took what little money he was given and spent in on practice squad players for example, making sure those players were the best in the league so when the injuries did inevitably hit, he had players who could really step up.
Greatest dynasty in football history. If you claim Bill then he traded a #1 to the Jete to get him and Bill drafted Brady. It rolls back up to
Kraft ...

WTF does this have to do with how cheap Kraft is?
This cheap narrative you guys keep propagating is asinine. No one was talking about Kraft's spending back when we were winning. He has not changed his philosophy in 30 years as owner. It is not about how much you spend, it's about how you build the team. Do you want us to turn into the Jete and blow our wad every year and end up with the same record?

People have been talking about Kraft being cheap at various times virtually since he obtained the team. Your denial of that fact is based upon either intentional blindness or lack of knowledge regarding this subject. Neither would surprise me.

Most fanbases of every sport/team who are losing say their owner is cheap because fans are dumb and think throwing money at problems is the only solution ... again see Jete.

So what you're saying is that the spending figures are wrong. what are the correct ones?

No. I am saying spending is not some panacea for why a football team is struggling. It always comes down to team building. The team was horribly managed for years under Bill which is why the roster is in the shape that it is and why this is a multiyear rebuild and throwing silly money around like Bill did in 2020 is not the solution.

So if you're not spending money is it easier or harder to build a team?

It's not a panacea.
A panacea is the GOAT QB and GOAT Coach here at the same time, making chicken salad with the chicken shit talent they had on the roster - because, wait for it, Robert Kraft is too cheap to spend for high end talent.

There was one time, once, they paid top-of-the-market money to a free agent. Stephon Gilmore. He finished 3.5 years of a 5 year contract, so Kraft wouldn't have to pay out guarantees at the end of the contract, and that guy is still starting today. One time. In 30 years of ownership, and they couldn't even let him play out that contract, despite getting them to a Super Bowl in 17, helping to win it in 18, and winning DPOY in 19.

I'd like you to point to what 'silly money' they actually threw around in 2020, too. Salary Cap money isn't what they actually spent. That's the whole point of 'last in cash spending'.

Players, agents, they know this. Nobody's going to come here as a result, and they're just going to get used again and again in contract negotiations to drive up their price.

We were always talking about it. About how we could not get top level talent here because of money and that Bill was forced to perform miracles like Jesus at the wedding to keep the team competitive. Even with Moss we got him here because he was in limbo and he wanted to hook up with Bill and Tom. Tommy's point on Gilmore is 100% spot-on.

The facts are there Mazz and the league and all the agents know it too well. They don't even bother pitching their top talent to the Patriots, even when Bill and Tom were here they didn't bother.

You are really looking at the team building/spending and putting that on Kraft? It is well noted and documented from Bill himself that he was always building a football team comprised of mid-level talent so he had solid football players 1-53. We may have not had a lot of top end talent but we had the best talent across the team which is why the team was able to sustain so many injuries and keep chugging along. Having the GOAT QB also helped the most paired along with the best defensive mind in Bill. I never looked at the seasons we didn't win because we didn't spend enough. Often it was because key talent did get injured prior to the post-season or we ran into a better team or bad luck. I mean winning 6 chips in 18 years is unprecedented so Kraft was doing way more right than wrong for almost 20 years.

Why you guys keep harping on his spending is beyond me. If you look at the teams that spend a ton, they maybe have 1-3 good years like the Rams and then they hit cap hell. Like I said, it is not about the spending, it is how you go about building the team.

well good deal, Kraft is still here so all will be well next season. He has his QB now so no reason not to be in the playoffs next year and years to come right?

As I keep saying this is a multiyear rebuild. But getting the QB is the biggest/most important piece ...

Except , you know, there are tiny things called facts that demonstrate that the Patriots are the last ranked team in spending over the last 10 years.
But you hate facts because you prefer to live in a daydream.
