We can argue this until we're blue in the face.7. Kraft being cheap is a narrative and it is true. Going into this offseason the Pats had $65M cap space, 4th most in the league. The Pats still have $45M of that money so they only spent
$20M of it. You can interpret that however you want. I see it as prime evidence that Kraft is CHEAP and unwilling or unable to invest in the future. The unable part scares me for the future.
I've seen Kraft use every chance he's gotten to play good cop and make Bill out to be the bad cop. That's ass backwards for most Patriots fans. After a 4-13 year Kraft still won't spend.
I agree that every owner has his GM on a budget. I don't agree that Kraft is cheap.
You do know that BB got a piece of every salary cap dollar that was not spent? That was his "bonus" every year.
You know that every team is required to spend 90% of the annual salary cap? 2024 = $255M = $229.5. Patriots are at $46.6 under the cap, or have spent $208.4 so far. Every team can defray a portion of that 90% to the following year (2025). Wolfe wants to push the max to next year. Let's say that's $25.5M or 10% of the cap. He's sitting on $21.1M. WTF is he saving it for??
How about this? Trade a 2025 second or third round pick for Deebo Samuel? This is what he'll cost:

2025 | 29 | $16,600,529 | $4,807,000 | $1,825,000 | $750,000 | $200,000 | $0 | $0 | $24,200,529 | 9.3% | $15,089,000 | $9,111,529 |
