Younger fans are bewildered at the Parcells news. But Paul Perillio put it very well to Evan Lazar just now on PU. Evan said he would not have put him in, and Paul told him, politely, that he's too young to remember how perennially bad the Patriots were and that Parcells really changed that and set the Patriots up to start the journey to the powerhouse they became.

Well done Bill Parcells, delighted to hear news and it is indeed well, well deserved.

I remember when I heard the news about Parcells taking the pats job... I was shocked. I felt like we had a legit team for once. it definitely changed the vibe for the org.

Absolutely. That awful black cloud over the Pats suddenly disappeared like magic.
 
The way he left erased all the positive energy he brought.
Pats on the cusp in a game they had a legit shot in and he’s on his way out the door. Huge distraction.
I can’t see past it he doesn’t belong.

I thought I was being punked. No way Parcells would want that job.

Prior to winning the Super Bowl, the hiring of Bill Parcells is the most euphoric I'd ever felt over anything related to the New England Patriots.

On the other side of the coin, what would have happened if Parcells was granted full authority on draft picks. Parcels and Fairbanks were best at picking players.

With this announcement is Kraft doing it to relieve his own guilt?

I definitely see the traitor part (stealing Curtis Martin) but am at the age now I don't care (much).
 
I've thought about it since I saw the announcement. I was on the F#ck Bill Parcels bandwagon when he left. But after all of these years and with what went down with Belichick, I get it. “If they want you to cook the dinner, at least they ought to let you shop for some of the groceries.” Krafty Bob was a micromanager from the get go and this is just him trying to make himself look a little better. He'll be long gone before he has to kiss Belichick's ass and will leave that up to his idiot son.
 
During the Sullivan ownership years, Chuck Fairbanks and Raymond Berry had winning records sandwiched between disasters of other HC choices giving Pats fans hope of surviving the dipshittery of Billy & his 2 dumbass sons

then after 2 subseqent ownership changes -- the infamous Victor Kiam followed by James Busch Orthein in 1992-- who hired Bill Parcells and drafted Drew Bledsoe --- fans finally saw help to return the moribund franchise to respectability

Fairbanks, Berry and Parcells gave NE hope as leaders but let us not forget Parcells only had a .500 record and an image-clouded losing Super Bowl w/ a midnight exit to the hated NYJ's

as a Certified Calcified born&bred MassHole, I hold sports grudges wikked haaahd

so I'm not thrilled w/ BP for the NEP HOF
