Looking at the Patriots 2025

Brendon Schooler as a Rush DE but also just a spy is chef's kiss

What took them so long to put Schooler in a spy/pass rusher? He's been asking to pass rush for a while and the kid is physically talented. I guess I should be thankful
the coaches finally gave him a role on a PR pkg but this year should be all about looking for roles for guys who are deserving. Better late than never.

Look, we all can see this isn’t a very talented team but they are still playing hard and there’s improvement. The QB is developing as well as anyone could hope for. There is no reason with the resources available that this team is dramatically improved by the time they step on the field next season.

Two of the Pats losses have been in OT.

I know that old Parcells aphorism: You are what you're record says you are. But this team is not all that far from being .500 - and there are a couple of divisions where a .500 record would have a team only one game behind the division leader.

While you have a point who Pats have played matters, too.

Impressive win against the Bengals.

Tough loss against the Seahawks—solid team.

Absolutely crushed by the Jests.

Crushed by the Niners.

Very winnable game against the Dolphins but ultimately lost.

Crushed by the Texans but Maye impressed.

Really bad loss against the hapless Jags—terrible performance.

Impressive win against the Jets.

Loss in OT against a terrible Titans team—not a good look.

Dominating win against a toothless Bears team.

If all things were equal, Pats have had a chance to win in 5 games. On paper they had 6 games where games were winnable. Three of them have been wins.

What does this all mean? I guess they're not as far off as we may think, although the opponents haven't been top tier—aside from Niners and maybe Texans.

I would much rather see them trending upwards and win 6-7 games than to play like shit and be picking top 5 in the draft.

I agree - I never want a team I root for to give up on a season and try to get a better draft position. Losing hard-fought games, even getting blown out by a superior team, is acceptable. But not trying to win is anathema to me.

I don't mind down years - as a Patriots and Red Sox fan, I wasn't accustomed to success and championships, so every trophy in those team's cabinets represents something I never thought I would happen.

A commitment to being competitive every season, and being well-coached and ready to play - that's what I want to see.

The OL looked a bit better yesterday than they did against the Titans. However, that was a very low bar to jump over. The Bears OL was awful.
Going forward, this team will only have a chance to win games that the OL does not get dominated.
That's not much to ask, just don't get dominated.

If he can do this against all running QBs, as well as continuing his ST play, he's more than paid for his contract already.

The Bears were without both of their starting OTs.

Thanks, Iearned something today, I had to look it up

2025 cap space by team. Thought about putting this in the "Joke" thread bc of Kraft's stinginess.

So on Unfiltered yesterday Evan said that at this moment he has one Blue Chip player in the '25 draft.....this is looking like a terrible year to be this bad.
Eh ... the so called experts get so much wrong when it comes to the draft every year. There are always stand out guys at every position.
