Looking at the Patriots 2025

WTF is up with Gonzo and his hamstring? He’s been sitting for what, 5-6 weeks? Jesus. He’s incredibly soft.
He’s gonna have to give a discount on that second contract if this continues.

Some good content in here on why Vrabel has wiped away all the leaders from last year's team from Curran and Perry.
(Hint: he wanted his own guys who have bought in to the new culture)

This...sounds familiar.

NOTES: 12 rookies on 53-man roster...NE currently ranks 11th in cash spending for 2025.

12 rookies!! Definitely different than Bill would have done it but I'm looking forward with optimistic anticipation.

$325M+ spent on contracts this off season only brought the Pats to 11th in cash spending for this year? That tells you how far behind other teams Kraft let us drop.

Please name some home drafted talent that left because Kraft wouldn’t pay.
Thuney and possibly Shaq Mason who had a down year.
This whole cash spending thing is a result of a decade of awful drafts, and Cam/QBs on rookie deals.
Successful teams aren’t built in FA. Your highest paid players SHOULD be ones you drafted. In that Jonnu FA class tons of cash was spent. It didn’t help. They all sucked. They backed up the dump truck for Milton. He’s probably not going to be worth that contract. What FA did they miss out on recently? Ridley? They made him a competitive offer. He wanted the Titians.
Any Pat drafted that’s been worth retaining has been retained. There haven’t been many.

Using your strategy this offseason would likely result in the Patriots competing for the top overall pick again. They needed to spend money in free agency to inject much-needed talent into the team. If you haven’t noticed, a majority of last year's starters are either gone or have been demoted, including all of last year's team captains.

A certain #12 comes to mind.

Mankins, Thuney, Mason, Gilmore and Moss weren't drafted, but they were shown the door due to money. Richard Seymour, Jakobi Meyers, DPOY Wilfork, The current Head Coach (not drafted, but that's a technicality), Matt Cassel, Jimmy Garropolo, Deion Branch, Nate Solder, Darius Butler, Malcolm Butler, Asante Samuel, Daniel Graham, Ben Watson, and many many more.

Those who were traded, were done for money reasons.

I'm not even saying some of those weren't the absolute right personnel moves to make - but you specifically said 'Name some drafted talent that left due to money'. There was a lot.

If you’re going back till what 05/06 when Branch first left…….. that list really proves my point.
So your saying the talent Kraft wouldn’t pay for was 2 backup QBs playing behind the GOAT who never misses games, a WR who left town and completely sucked, a LT who left town and completely sucked, a CB who left because of his attitude problems not money, and a bunch of jags?
You could say Malcom and Darius. Jacoby Meyers should have been retained, but I think the coaching staff thought he was replaceable. I don’t think that was about money.
Seymour, well they did give him a second contract, and by the end of it he was regularly injured and had attitude problems so they got a first rounder for him. The raiders gave him a ton of money and he was mostly problems for them.
I don’t see many difference makers drafted by the Pats on that list. Certainly not many from the last decade.
