Looking at the Patriots 2025

10. Did you know? According to ESPN Research, the Patriots are one of four NFL teams with 3,000 or more plays by rookies this season. The other three teams (Browns, Jets, Titans) entered Week 13 with a combined 6-27 record.

According to The Athletic's Playoff Simulator, following the early slate of afternoon games, the Patriots now hold a league-high 59% chance to end the regular season as their conference's best team. The Colts were one of the favorites to win the division and earn the bye, but have now lost three of their last four games and now just hold an 8% chance to earn the No. 1 seed. The Broncos — who don't play until the end of the day — have a 29% chance, per The Athletic.

Not getting ahead of myself. Only relevant now due to the timing. Got this from a Bills poster.

The rule is the game can be flexed within 12 days of the game. That makes today the last day for flexing the Bills @Pats, Dec. 14.
Jan. and playoff games can flexed within 6 days.

Marcus Jones should get another STs Player of the Week award for last night. (He now has 6 TDs on returns for his career).
And another All-Pro designation for 2025.

But did you also know that Marcus also grabbed the official all-time NFL record for yds/punt return with his 75th punt return last night?
(75 returns are the minimum to qualify)

On his 75th return, Jones moved to the top of the all-time leaderboard in style. He went back on a punt from the New York Giants, received it at his own 6-yard line, then went 94 yards for a touchdown.

After two other solid returns on the night, Jones' career punt return average now sits at 14.6 yards per return, which is now officially the NFL record.

Two players had previously been tied atop the board at 12.8 yards per punt return: George McAfee and Jack Christiansen, both old-timers who played before 1960.

Some notable names also in the top-10 include No. 7 Desmond Howard (11.9) and No. 9 Devin Hester (11.7).

The only other active player in the top-10 is Devin Duvernay, who is tied with Hester in the ninth spot with 11.7 yards per punt return.

If you've never watched Unsportsmanlike (early am) on espn, I think it's a terrific show that is full of informational nuggets. I've been watching it recently and can highly recommend it. Chris Canty and Evan Cohen know their stuff. Here is Canty as a guest on First Take. The show this morning was fantastic as they were all talking about the Patriots annihilating the Giants last night.

Something I realized recently is that when watching the Pats, when it's third and long I'm thinking great, get to see Maye do something here.
As opposed to "oh no, it's third and long".

espn has the Patriots at the top of their power ranking and Mike R. is ecstatic

1. New England Patriots (11-2)

Week 13 result: Beat the Giants 33-15
Week 13 ranking: 2

X factor for final stretch: Defensive tackle Christian Barmore

With starting DT Milton Williams on injured reserve because of a high ankle sprain for at least the next two games and No. 3 DT Khyiris Tonga slowed by a chest injury from Week 12, more of the burden falls on Barmore. Through the first nine weeks, the Patriots hadn't allowed an opposing running back to gain 50 rushing yards in a game. But in Weeks 10-12, Patriots opponents averaged more than 5.0 yards a carry. -- Mike Reiss

If we’re gonna win a Super Bowl, we need Milton Williams back. Having Tonga back as a fullback would be huge also. He did a great job clearing out lanes for a running back. Can’t forget the right tackle either. It would be nice to get him back.

This is remarkable!
