Looking at the Patriots 2025

Wasn't sure where to put this.... But there are several unverified questionable Twitter sources that... Sometimes seem to get real insider info before many of the trusted and verified people do. One of them I posted in the coaching staff thread last week who had the scoop on Doug Marrone

Well, this is another one. He broke the news about Josh McDaniels before anyone else.

So take this for what it's worth as he is the only one reporting....

This is a pretty new account and since I've lost my FO contacts I hope he will prove reliable. Time will tell.

I don't know if Hightower is a good coach or not, but the 2024 linebackers for the Pats were awful. But if you look at the roster, after losing Bentley for the season, it was gonna be tough making chicken salad out for chicken sh*t.
For me it's more about the regression of players who were decent the prior year that tells the tale .I mean tavai was actually decent in 23 and he was absolute shit last year. Most of the players on defense backslid. dugger...another one. how much of that was due to the roles they were asked to fill and how much was due straight up to coaching techniques I'm not sure. but both of those are coaching issues.

Apparently Dugger had a leg injury early in the year and was playing through it even though it got worse as the year went on. I think he's already had his surgery. Could have had it in the first half of the season. I think Peppers being unavailable probably played into his decision to wait.

But generally I agree. Tavai, in particular, had turned a corner in 23 and looked like absolute ass last year. White (not an LB, but neither is Dugger), Jennings...it wasn't good.

Edit: and Mapu!

Yes I should have mentioned that I wasn't referring just specifically to linebackers. thank you @Flagg the Wanderer .I didn't know that about Dugger's leg either . I hope that explains it. I really had high hopes for him being a Rodney type guy with his intelligence. And Kion white is definitely glaring. I think he really missed bill.

Hightower, while an intelligent and excellent player had little to no experience prior to coming in as a coach. Another questionable decision made by Mayo. He seemed to want to get all his buddies in the staff. Hightower was also put in a position of trying to figure it out with a limited roster that lacked leadership. It was destined to fail.

Either way, his legacy as a player remains. As a coach, well, that remains to be seen. But at first glance it wasn't good. I'm happy Pats are doing everything in their power to rectify it.

I listened to Phil Perry on his latest podcast yesterday. He said that accurately evaluating Dugger's performance this season is difficult because he played with an injured ankle since very early on.

Dugger was dealing with more than just an ankle sprain this year. He had "tightrope surgery" recently to fix a much more serious ankle injury.
He should be ready to go for the 2025.
For those who were ready to cast him out, and there were more than just a couple, I think that he is a keeper for next year.

His tibia and fibula were separated above his ankle. Grade 3 high ankle sprain. Tight rope Sx pulls the fibula back to the tibia and speeds recovery.
