Looking at the Patriots 2026 - Iron Sharpens Iron

From Lazar;
In the 2025 draft the Pats hit a homerun by selecting Craig Woodson. Did they hit another one by selecting Karon Prunty in this year's draft?

Really like Marcus Bryant and D. Crownover at offensive tackles. And Crownover has really good measurables. Hope there's a way to keep both.

Backup guard looks weak. Ben Brown is OK at center but looks like he regressed at guard. Considering AVT's health we probably will be looking to acquire a guard.

Lazar is pretty good so his opinion carries a little weight but I'm not sure how you compare Prunty to what Woodson did last year?

Woodson beat out Peppers and Dugger and did it so handily that the team moved on from them. So far Prunty is getting his reps because Davis is out and he hasn't really even beat out Woods yet.

I don't expect Prunty to be another Woodson-like prodigy.

Ian Rapoport on X: "
The #Patriots are hosting veteran and versatile OL Greg Van Roten on a visit, source said. The 36-year-old has played the last two seasons with the #Giants.

He's a top 10 OG in the NFL when healthy, and that's being conservative. Plus, he can push out to OT in a pinch.
If Wilson takes the step we hope he does, and AVT doesn’t have a season ending injury it would go a long way to cleaning up the redzone issues last year. And it would help Henderson so much. He still needs a big hole.
I’ve been reading AVT is still getting up to speed this TC. Hopefully he reaches his peak form.
I wish I’d been reading that Ben Brown looks solid, but the reports I see say backup guard is an issue.

I'm increasingly concerned about what I'm hearing about Wilson in camp. Our DTs are good, but it sounds like he's getting pretty consistently overwhelmed, and isn't moving anyone in the running game, though he's looked good at the second level.

I really hope AVT comes all the way back to what he was. I was pissed the Jets got him, and I always liked his game.

Patriots to Field Turf instead of grass Clocks a ticking (I hope they only play scrubs for this game )

Patriots scramble to replace turf field before Thursday’s preseason opener vs. Colts

After the final World Cup game at Gillette Stadium, out went the FIFA-mandated grass and in came an artificial turf field.

Now, the artificial turf field will be hastily replaced with a different one.

Via Mike Reiss of ESPN, the NFL and NFL Players Association independent laboratory testing protocol determined that the first artificial surface was “noncompliant.”
