Van Roten has missed only one game over the past five seasons. That durability should be especially attractive to a Patriots team suddenly searching for dependable depth.
He earned a 70.2 pass-blocking grade from Pro Football Focus last season, which ranked 22nd among qualified guards. His overall performance placed him 35th among 81 players at the position. Van Roten also offers positional versatility. Although most of his recent work has come at right guard, he has NFL experience at center and played more than 130 snaps there for the Giants in 2024 and Bills in 2022.

You're right, that was a good article. It could be a concern that they've had so much roster turnover, even though it was by choice. However, I choose to think of it as perhaps being an advantage because any complacency should be mitigated by that.
One year ago, we all believed the Patriots had made great strides with roster upgrades, were a possible playoff team, and almost certainly were not a SB team. In other words, one year ago, we anticipated further roster turnover in year two of the Vrabel era. They only thing that makes that stat a bit shocking is because they surprised us all by making it all the way to the SB. Otherwise, what has occurred is exactly what everyone expected.
They were bitching about roster turnover and trying to compare the Patriots to Seattle for a long segment on 98.5 this morning. It came off as contrived. They were filling airtime as Albert Breer bailed on them. They just need to bitch.
Good take regarding complacency being mitigated by good adds who weren't here for the SB loss.
Also, many of the new players added have far more experience and are more accomplished players than the guys who left.

maybe I'm just having sentimental flashbacks about Rodney, but I really think that byard signing is going to make a big difference as far as leadership and intelligence in the secondary.
