Using a high draft pick in a trade for AJ Brown doesn't look like the right move IMO.

Maybe a third only.
Age and weirdness are two concerns.

A year ago, I'd have leaned toward yes. But he didn't show me much with his play to earn the right to shoot his way out of town.

Unless it's a Randy Moss-esque trade for the Pats, I would not pursue this move.
 
A back end third for AJ…… sure. But I wouldn’t be excited. Brown is the type of trade pundits get excited over, but rarely is worthwhile long term. Mike Evans is out there too right? He might have as much left as AJ for a year or 2, comes with a much better attitude, and no picks required. I do sympathize with the argument that the Pats can’t draft WRs, so just trade for one.

But that back end second could be a TE or Guard for the next 8 years, so no thanks. I’d like to keep that and the 1st.

Yeah. I would be ok with that. He will turn 29 in June.

Good read.

Just saw ATL is going to franchise Pitts.

I've had an appreciation for Isaiah Likely for a while now. He was coming off an injury so last year's a tough year to benchmark his upside. If he can be had at a reasonable deal, I would like to see him in NE.

Why? No matter who they pick you'll hate it and carpet bomb us for years with complaints in every thread. The last time you liked a Pats' draft pick Gino Cappelletti was still playing.

That’s not true.
Among the picks I’ve loved recently have been Barnmore, Kyle Williams, Drake. I liked Thornton but he was a bust.
I dunno if you’ve noticed, but I’ve been pretty dead on in a lot of my assessments over the years. The Pats haven’t exactly knocked it out of the park draft wise. The improvements on offense last year came from Drake Maye and coaching.
You might hate my take on Campbell but he didn’t exactly cover himself in glory against quality defenses. Henderson couldn’t get on the field when it counted. It’s mistake drafting a guard at 4, and a mistake using an almost 1st round pick on an RB who’s always going to need to be in a committee.

Holy crap! We only had 5 FAs I wanted to re-sign and it's gonna cost $40 mil /year for them?

We do have $42 mil in cap space to add to this year's cap, but I wonder what some other teams who are carrying over a negative cap into 2026 are going to do.
