Looking at the Patriots 2026 - Iron Sharpens Iron

It sure seems like the coaches do not trust Williams. If there were ever a time for him to step up and get looks it’s now.

I'm reading and hearing the Pats have inquired about the availability of AZ's WR Marvin Harrison, Jr.
I wasn't a fan of his during his draft in '24 and he has only 1 rec over 2 games this year for 33 yds.
There's a lot to consider when any team adds a WR this late since learning a new offense with new language would take a lot of time.

I'd rather that energy be put into getting Kyle Williams up to speed over investing it in a new guy.
That's assuming the coaches don't think Kyle Williams has reached his peak already.

No thanks to mhj. This appears to be a referendum on what they did at the wide receiver position.

Well Done Wow GIF by Loof and Timmy

I can't help myself.

It’s possible Brissett can’t get him the ball on the routes they have him running.
But he’s certainly been disappointing. I’ve read his effort falls off a cliff when he knows he’s not getting a target.

Almost 45% of MHJr's routes are either GO or POST routes. He's being used as a decoy to open up receivers underneath. If he doesn't give great effort then he doesn't open it up for them and that has been a criticism. There's also the presence of TE Trey McBride who is Brisset's fav target. McBride led all TEs last year in targets, receptions, yards and TDs so it's little wonder
that Brisset trusts him and the coaches design plays for him. The Cards also have WR Michael Wilson who they're utilizing in a Puka Nacua-like role from the Z position.
It's understandable that since Brisset has those dependable receivers who are getting open underneath that he rarely looks to Harrison running routes from the X position out wide, especially since Harrison doesn't have the pure speed to get separation. Drops have also plagued Harrison.

Harrison clearly needs a change from the way AZ is using him but they are using him that way bc they have better receivers than him for the underneath stuff. His play put him in his present position. His lack of nuanced route running and his drops were the reasons I didn't like him for the Pats in the '24 draft.

Get a load of this

New England earned the 600th overall victory in franchise history, including postseason games. The Patriots became the first of the eight original American Football League franchises to reach that total.

The interesting thing to me is that Kuhr doesn't have the usual big name mentors in his coaching tree that most NFL coaches have.
Daboll - defensive assistant and
Vrabel - LBs coach at Tenn and here.
That's it.
Now suddenly he's our DC and working wonders with our defense. I'd love to hear who he studied to become so good on the defensive side of the ball.
