March Madness 2026

The Sweet 16 is set and will tip-off on Thursday.

East:
(1) Duke vs. (5) St. John's
(3) Michigan St. vs. (2) UConn

South:
(9) Iowa vs. (4) Nebraska
(3) Illinois vs. (2) Houston

West:
(1) Arizona vs. (4) Arkansas
(11) Texas vs. (2) Purdue

Midwest:
(1) Michigan vs. (4) Alabama
(6) Tennessee vs. (2) Iowa St.
I normally would be a UConn fan. But I would like to see a Michigan vs Michigan St matchup in the semis.

I don’t think they can meet until the finals. Is there something I’m missing?

The semi’s (final four) would have the South playing the East(where MSU is) and the Midwest (where the Ann Arbor rentals are) playing the West.

Either way, the entire State of Michigan would be rocking.

I just want Sparty to show up and beat UConn this Friday and take it from there.

Go Green!

Correct, Michigan St. and Michigan could only meet in the finals. That would be epic.

You nailed it. Think about this: As much as you know it would be epic, I doubt those outside of the midwest and especially those outside of Michigan can comprehend just how epic. It won't happen, but damn... Families could rupture. Couches could burn (google it), A2 would explode.

I don't have an affinity for either school but I have always enjoyed "Halley's Comet" sports matchups (Harbaugh Bowl, Subway Series, etc.) and this would be right up there.

In a NCAA MARCH MADNESS BATTLE, MSU takes on UConn.

In Worcester.

Wait, you didn't know the game was in Worcester? There may even be tickets available.

I wish I was home. I would go in a heartbeat.

It's in DC.

Worcester (unfortunately) hasn't had an NCAA basketball tourney game since like 2005. Frozen Four, though, they have that every year.

Also, can we talk about how the national SEC overrating as a conference has bled into basketball now? Pretty gross. 10 bids, only 4 got through to the sweet 16, and I don't think any of them make it to the weekend (Texas' miracle run will end against Purdue, a team with actual tall people on it).

Yes. The NCCA March Madness Frozen Four. MSU vs. UConn. In Worcester. That's the one.

Sparty 2 and UConn 1

TBH, the Huskies outplayed MSU but for the goalie! Augustine stood on his head.

I wonder how often that's happened, where the same schools are playing in both sets of brackets like that. How late into the tourneys has it occurred?

I can’t remember it ever happening before. Maybe some AI chat knows?
