Since a Fisher pair moved into the woods behind my house I haven't seen a squirrel.

Of course, listening to them doing the nasty at night can be a bit "distracting"

At the moment we have two hawks, an owl and two stray cats living in our yard. They do eat squirrels as a meal. Seeing one swoop down only to soon lift up in the air with a squirrel in their talons gives me extreme joy.

I will send Tim a copy of the book, if he allows it, so he can learn and next time not be so nice to those things.

I hate them dearly.

My neighbor two streets over raises them. I almost blew a gasket. They are in their seventies and I kept the peace but instead walked away. Raising them?

That is one of the most horrifying sounds you can hear. Sounds like a baby being murdered. It's blood curdling.

Fisher are cool critters, nasty, as are all weasels, but cool.

Sure, cool in the sense that they drag their prey back to their nest still alive, torture it and eat it. They can climb trees, so your house cat can't escape. And they don't fear very much.

On the plus side, as OPT pointed out, they clean out the small varmints. I haven't seen a squirrel, skunk or rabbit in my area for a few years now. Throw in the coyotes and foxes, and we have the wild kingdom in our back yard. Just don't leave your pets out over night.
