Artist: Ian Gillian, Murray Head (and the rest of the original cast)






This song was huge in 1970 - you heard it everywhere. I decided to post it here, inspired by some of the contributions on the "Show Tunes" thread.
 
I agree with Road Nasty and Pneumonic - Richard Thompson is one of my favorites.
And very fine taste you undoubtedly have, TR. As great a lyricist as Thompson is, he may even be a better gutarist.

How good are the lyrics in this gem?

For instance. "They say her flower is faded now; hard weather and hard booze .... but maybe that's just the price ya pay for the chains that you refuse..." This is off the chart ....

So interesting you quoted that line - when I first heard this song maybe 25 years ago I just marveled at these very lyrics....great observations and taste there Pneumonic...!

This is the version from the movie, which is a little more restrained (and better, IMHO) than the version that airs on the radio.
