Nostalgic Music Thread

LOL...forgot I had this one ROFL

Again, I'm on the fringes of the thread. This is a nostalgic evocation done in modern Folk. My wife is an avid wumb fan and introduced me to this song. It's here in this thread to make Beagles feel nostalgic.

I think this song fits the thread's theme exquisitely. (And it's one of my all-time favorite songs.)

We kids would drive my Mom (and the neighbors) crazy singing this repeatedly while swinging on our swing set in the backyard. :)

No more annoying song was ever made.

What I thought of was hanging around Burke's beach in Marshfield when I was about 9 and one day I went into the snack bar to play Tony Conigliaro's "Playing the Field" on their jukebox and I got accosted by an insistent girl about my age who didn't have any money.

She wanted me to play "Henry VIII" for her instead.

I think I told her "no bleeping way", so she stuck around and heckled me to spoil my listening experience. God bless Youtube which had a recording of it, but the years have not been kind to that song. It amazes me that I once liked it, but Tony C. was one of my boyhood idols and I thought he could do no wrong at the time.

Probably the number one band of my mis-spent youth. Led Zeppelin was bigger than anybody to the punks of Weymouth back in the day.

I was a pretty big Fairport Convention fan in the long-time ago days.

Here's a gorgeous Judy Collins cover of one of Sandy Denny's best songs.

Here's a link to the Fairport Convention version.

Second Verse, same as the first. I'm henry the eigth I am, henry the eigth i am. I got married to the widow next door, she got married seven times before and everyone was a henry. Henry. That is as far as I remember from memory.

I'm very good friends with the guitarist for Herman's Hermits. Not the original guy you see here, but the current guy who has been with them for years (Vance Brescia......look him up) Vance also wrote songs for the Monkees and Temptations but is not known at all. He co-wrote the Monkeeys attemp for a comeback in the late 80's "If that was then this is now" Peter Noone and the hermits still tour quite a bit......they have like a cult following

It's funny, I don't recall Peter Noone looking that much like the bastard child of Howdy Doody and Alfred E. Newman. The Hermits had some decent songs but Henry is one of the worst ever.:insane:

Wow, lot of horrible music in this thread. :D

I went out to dinner and heard a song my Grandma and Grandpa used to dance too. I called my mother and she said it was the Andrew Sisters.
