Nostalgic Music Thread

Another great songstress from the 70's:

Song: I Can See For Miles
Artist: The Who

Fifty years ago it was that this song debuted.

This thread has got me really, really, thinking about KTCL now.... this fellow, Lonnie Liston Smith, got good airplay from them - "Summer Afternoon" is just gorgeous:

Song: I Looked Away
Artist: Derek And The Dominos

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/PMlmoLvRBNQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Opening track from the Layla album. A harbinger of things to come, but a little gem in its own right.

The perfect song to get my day going. Off a GREAT album, involving some spectacular musicians.

The (Dixie) Dregs playing I'll Just Pick.

Song: Ain't Wastin' Time No More
Artist: The Allman Brothers Band

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/h2Ro7LLEaQQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

First track from the "Eat A Peach" album. Classic.

Probably one of my all-time songs.

This is his daughter Lalah Hathaway singing it.

Yes, good tune, I remember it well. When I got out of the AF in March 1972 and returned to the States, I heard them for the first time. I remember getting an offer for a 1 yr. subscription to Rolling Stone magazine and the "Eat a Peach" album for $10.00. Great deal, but I turned it down, couldn't afford the $10...!

I always seem to forgot how easy flowing and beautiful this song really is - interesting video too:

Not my real old timey nostalgia but both, in my mind, are connected to a moment.

And another Al Stewart gem:

Song: Ramble Tamble
Artist: Creedence Clearwater Revival

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/VZPG1kEMNVg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Opening track from the stupendous "Cosmo's Factory" album.

Some serious chops on the electric guitar exhibited here by Mr. Fogerty.

Heard this little gem on Sirius radio today. I was familiar with the Pete Drake version, but apparently this one was the original, popular way back in 1960:

Song: Shadow Captain
Artist: Crosby, Stills And Nash

The lead-in to the 1977 release "CSN" - their all-time best-selling album.

David Crosby's best song, IMHO.

Amy loved Hathaway, name-checked him in 'Rehab'. Love her version, too.

The title of the Amy Winehouse tune reminded me of this Bob Dylan song - here he does it in a practice rehearsal with George Harrison:
