Nostalgic Music Thread

I posted the Linda Ronstadt cover of this a few months ago. Great song.

Wow. Sorry I missed it. Don't think it' s what BH fans first think of when we remember him but one of his very best imo.

Cheers, :toast:

"Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds -
and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of -
wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence.
Hovering there I've chased the shouting wind along
and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.
"Up, up the long delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace,
where never lark, or even eagle, flew;
and, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
the high untrespassed sanctity of space,
put out my hand and touched the face of God."

by John Gillespie Magee, Jr..

Not music but assuredly for me and many folks, the very essence of nostalgia. Many variations were used over the years, but this is the original. Rough shape but original. At one in the AM in the sixties (on the very odd occasion when I was up) this sign off piece was as a bedtime prayer.

A brilliant poem. Within is all one needs to know about the lure of flying. And perhaps all one need know of freedom.

Bump - who remembers

Song: Always With Me, Always With You
Artist: Joe Satriani

The album "Surfing With The Alien" came out in 1987 - that's 35 years ago.

Once I heard this song (in the mid 1990s), I figured I'd be listening to a lot more Satriani in the future.

And I was right about that. :banana:
