I actually think a lot of people get away with a lot of shit.Wealthy& famous people probably get away with more for sure. When I was young, I got absolutely smoked by a drunk driver who ran a stop sign when I had no stop sign. the woman was well known to police and was on drugs. Her boyfriend got out of her car and came over to the police car i was sitting in and started beating on the windows. This woman had no license and no insurance. So me as a broke, recent college graduate had to take the hit on my insurance for getting my ancient car fixed. not to mention, I had the shit scared out of me because I was young, and in a vulnerable position. I was not even allowed to go to court. It was just a plea deal for her when she should have at least had to face me in court. And even though I would have had to take off work and she wouldn't have, because, of course, she didn't have a job, I would have gladly done that to see her have real consequences for her continued destruction of people and vehicles. Later on that year, I got a speeding ticket in the same area, and I was insensed to learn that I had to pay a victim's crime fee. i explained to them that I was a victim of crime in their city and got absolutely no compensation from this fund.
