OT: Brag about your Kids thread

After getting her PhD in Pharmaceutical Toxicology 8 yrs ago, my daughter went back for an MS & PhD in Data Analysis 3 years ago. She rose quickly up the ranks within Lifespan Health, now merged with Brown Medical School as Brown Univ. Health.

6 months ago my daughter was the lead author on an application for a $200M research grant in medicine for Brown Univ. Medical School. She 'won' that grant.
Now Brown Univ. Health has asked her to write another grant application for even more money. Big stuff.

Outstanding!

Speaking solely about myself.
I still find it amazing that such a bright light can come from from such a low battery.

Genetics certainly plays a part but equally important is the role model presented and the opportunity given.

We have three distinctly different children; all three born inside of 33 months. One is Mini-Me (youngest, daughter), one is Mini-Lynn (oldest, son) and one is a combo (middle, son).

Similar genetics
Same role models
Same opportunities

WAY different people. WAAAAY. Lynn and I are opposites.

I'm an only child, but just observing my friends and in-laws that have had large families I can also say that for the most part, every child in a family has a "different" set of parents.

Not our child, she's my Nephew"s daoghter. Grace Oliver. But got to offer this up sonewhere. In 2023 she was named gstorade POY in Massacusetts. In 2025 She was off to Colorado Bufalos as a frshman. Off the bench all seaso averraging maybe 5 points 3 reb and a steal. Quite productive for a freshman I thought. I was surprised when she transferred to Wake Forest in 2025. Not a very good team, but she was far and awy their NO, 1. Led team in scoring, starting 29 Games. Led the entire ACC with a 67.4 Field Goal %. Set a new ACC record for most consecutive FGA without a miss (14 for 14 on the night, 30 points, 7 rebound.). Massive game at BC. She's a beautiful 6'1" young lady who is a wonderful hard working dedicated individual. Only year two and rumors already of WNBA interest. But just rumors.

Lori and I could not be prouder,

At long last me and Mrs PW became grandparents last night.

The little tiny peanut is in perfect health and a sweet little girl.

We are most excited. IMG_9559.jpeg

She's very precious.

We just got back from Montana visiting our 18 mo granddaughter and we will be getting a 2nd granddaughter in October.
Being a grandparent is pretty special.

The little granddaughter is a smiling happy one at 7 weeks. ❤️

I’ve been crazy busy lately but I can’t believe I missed this … She’s beautiful! Don’t take your eyes off of her time flys by. Our eldest grandchild, our granddaughter, is 16 and driving and we are still as close as ever. It’s amazing watching them grow.

I keep out of this thread, lest I end up spamming it. But this is a milestone:

I am 13 times a father, but on Saturday I will become for the first time a father-in-law, as I will walk LW#1 down the aisle and give her away to an amazing young man.

6/6, D-Day. I told them they are "storming the beaches of matrimony."

Anyone who is an old-timer here like me has heard me talk about all the LW's right along, and might be feeling a little old right now...I joined Patriots Planet when she was a toddler.

Wow, crazy. Congrats.

When I joined here, I had no children yet (as I am apparently not the long-lost Cromartie descendant that some people around here are) but tomorrow, my oldest will graduate from HS. I8 years has gone by in the blink of an eye.

What I laugh about is, all 4 Boston sports teams have won championships in his lifetime, but for him, the Patriots were the last of the 4 to win it all. 😂

That is awesome! Congratulations.

Not as big as babies and weddings…. But granddaughter number 2 and. Grandson number 1 are moving to NH. So granddaughter number 2 came up and stayed with me so she could tryout for the seacoast Carolina blue soccer travel team in NH and she found out she made it today. She’s thrilled they’re sponsored by Addis and the facilities are amazing.she can’t wait to start. Proud grandma
