OT: What bands have you seen?

That sounds about right, it's crazy how the price of tickets have gone up.

I thought Gramm quit singing years ago due to a major throat issue? My wife bought one of their cd's a few months ago and I didn't see his name on the band list.
$89.50 per + fees.

I am pretty sure it was Gramm. I'll have to ask the missus; she's the Forgeinger babe. lol

Edit. You are right, APF. No Gramm ... Kelly Hanson on vocals.

I added Garth Brooks to my list in September. Added another show to Crowder (seen him over 10x) and Matthew West (over 10x). Still want to see either of the three again anytime.

Some things have changed. Gramm can still belt out the tunes pretty well. When I saw them in Toronto back in the day I think I paid $25 for a primo ticket. Last night, it cost me almost $250 for a pair of tickets.

Could the price increase of tickets be the reaction to the loss of revenue from album sales (Limewire/torrents/etc.)? Bands have to tour now more than ever, if they want to make a living from it. And offer more merch.

No doubt though, at least in my case, I have contributed mightily to their retirement and/or enjoyment funds. I can't count how many multiples of the same recordings I own ... from 8 track through tape (reel and cassette) followed by CD and now hi-res downloads among the several thousand titles that I own. But, I know many bands don't see much $ these days through albums sales and have to tour to make a go out of it.

Absolutely. I get all the music I want for $10 a month, tough for bands to make money like that. 3 day tix for Rockville were $180 each.

I've seen some older bands in bars as well, Black Oak Arkansas, Johnny Winter, Steppenwolf, Harvey Mandel, to name a few. If I remember correctly cover charge was like $10.

I saw U2 in a bar in Boston in 1980. Opening for some shit band that never went anywhere.

Just got back from seeing Journey for the first time. I wasn't overly impressed for the first 3/4 of the show but they're old as dirt and the tickets were free. They really closed strong though. No encore.

I gave that a like if only because you resurrected a great thread. The friend group has been discussing Pine Knob concerts for this summer. The pickings are slim again for the second year in a row, but we’ll get two or three of them. I’ll keep this thread in mind.

I've seen a few shows since initially posted on this tread back in 07.
Some that I remember.

Primus
Gojira
Metallica
Mastodon
Pantera(with Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante)
Weezer
Pixies
Robert Cray
Ghost
Opeth
Rush (farewell tour)
Katatonia
Mammoth
Lorna Shore
Amon Amarth
Garth Brooks
Elle King
Kenny Wayne Sheppard

Also, here's a tip for any first responders or military veterans. There are a couple different apps that you should check out.

1st Tix

I have friends that use both of these apps. They have been able to get tickets to several shows for next to nothing. You basically just pay a small service fee which comes out to about $4 per ticket but the tickets are free. The only catch is you usually have to wait until the week of the event and they might not be the best seats but it's hard to argue with the price. I believe you can get tickets to sporting events as well.
