Patriots 2025 head coach search

Also WRT McDaniels as it pertains to QB development, name me a candidate for OC who has a better track record of developing and maximizing QBs than Josh McDaniels. Look back at when he took over as QB coach, then OC with Brady and remember how those teams changed over that span. He maximized the corpse of Cam Newton. He made Mac Jones a legitimate NFL QB and (believe it or not) that offense was #6 in scoring with rookie Mac Jones at the helm.

I'm not saying he's necessarily a grand slam, just that he's far from a bad choice if it happens.
It's more his game calling for me.

The difference here is he was strictly a Patriots player, he never coached here, never coached under BB....is part of the Bill O'brien splinter branch, but even BO was a coach much longer away from BB than with him.
Yeah. His past is very different from what Mayo's was. Fwiw, I think Mayo got a raw deal, but I also think Vrabel is objectively a better candidate now than Mayo was last year.

ut.

If WCO is preferred
Nick Caley has been with McVay's Rams for 2 years McVay's version of the West Coast Offense. The Pats offered him almost $3M to be their OC last year but he turned it down to
stay with McVay. He was awarded the title of Passing Game Coordinator by McVay. He's a HC possibility if Kraft dares go with a rookie HC again which I doubt.

I think I would want someone that has actually called plays, pretty sure McVay is still doing that.

I’m hoping for BJ (lol BJ), but it could be way worse than Vrable.
The titans went way downhill after he left, and Tannehill was average on a good day.

I want Ben too but I am coming around on Vrabel. At least we know he is a pretty good HC and Maye is a heck of a lot better QB to work with than Tanny ever was. LOL

Since they let Vrabel walk out, I'm not sure it's as much of a done deal as people have been thinking. If the Raiders offer considerably more money and his philosophy clicks with Brady, why wouldn't he go to Vegas? Cheapskates don't get top quality. ⛸️⛸️

Known scheduled HC interviews remaining:

Patriots - 0
Vrabel - 0

BJ - 3.

But teams with real NFL quarterbacks do...

I think it's Vrabel and I think this might be how it happens...

Johnson's 3 hour interview is this morning, so we should see the announcement from the pats that the interview is concluded sometime this afternoon.

Then there will be nothing while the Patriots supposedly think over who its going to be. It's already decided that it's Vrabel though and the deal is already negotiated.

Sometime tomorrow just before the pregame shows, it will be leaked that it's Vrabel. I'm guessing Schefter.

Then they can have the announcement and pomp and circumstance on Monday or Tuesday.

Is Vrabel (if he’s the one) OK with lil Jon meddling with the roster? I know that he got screwed by Robinson, Carthon, and Strunk in TN.

Most people seem to think if Vrabel gets the job, that he will be given ultimate say, but who knows.
