Without making a new thread calling it out, will just put it here.

Those Patriot drafts after Reese+O’Brien left and before Wolf and Groh were brought into the war room, were atrocious. That 2019 draft was pathetic. But the entire body of work from 2013-2020 was disastrous. BB drafted well from 2001-2004, 2009-2012, no coincidence when strong evaluators were here like Pioli, Dimitroff, Reese, etc. Good riddance to moron roommates from John Carroll (Caserio, McDaniels, Ziegler) who wrecked drafts and also the current cap situation. It will take years to recover from it. The Mac draft was excellent and this year’s draft could be promising. But it’s been too many years of draft drought and most of the Superbowl core players are now gone.

It's too bad that BO'B never came back to be the offensive coordinator...BB prolly didn't want to piss off Saban though.

2020 really wasn't bad, especially considering there was no 1st rounder. I'm not a huge Duggar fan, but he, Uche, & Jennings all look to be key members of this defense, and Onwenu and Herron are nice for 6th rounders. The twin whiffs on TEs make it look bad, but even if you exclude Herron that's 4 guys who seem to be solid NFLers. What percentage do you expect to hit?

2013 also had no first rounder, and still produced 3 guys who had jobs at the end of their eighth year. How is that a failure?

Caserio was the worst. BB hoped he would be successful running the entire draft from A to Z and gave him too much leeway.
N'Keal Harry will forever be the poster child for those bad drafts for me. Harry was a completely different kind of WR than BB had ever had on any of his teams going back to Cleveland.

Caserio was our Director of Player Personnel from 2008-2020. BB continued to handle most of the draft as he trained Caserio. As time went by BB trusted him more and more until it became evident his picks weren't very good. He chose some real clunkers. BB had seen enough. Caserio was lucky the Texans job came up; his time here was done.
That sorry episode in Pats history is behind us now, thankfully.

I will be interested whether or not they trade future picks for players in the next couple of days or if they figure they are more productive keeping those picks.
