The Patriots are 31st in the league in red zone offense. Only 12 TDs in 28 red zone trips. Both poor in the rate at converting TD’s as well as overall trips to the red zone.

The last 3 games it’s been 2 TD’s to 10 field goals. The last game the team kept shooting itself in the foot with OLine penalties.

One easy solution is to really lean into 2TE formations and play action as the field gets shorter. Maybe our novice offensive staff will eventually figure this out. That, or rehire Chad O’Shea back to manage red zone plays.

It's a good thing the Vikings are 32 in red zone defense. We may find out Thursday night if the Pats have figured out their rz woes.

Vikings had the worst red zone defense in the league and the Pats went 0-3 tonight in the red zone.

At what point is this novice offensive staff taken to the shed for whiffing so badly in the most important part of the field.

I think the last 4 games the offense has gone 2 TDs and 12 FGs inside the red zone. We would laugh at another franchise doing this.

.

most underrated parts of being a playcaller are designing good rz plays and having a feel for the game. not terribly surprising that a brand new offensive scheme team is struggling with it when there have been the personnel issues on o line especially.

We keep saying it, the lack of TE production is a real glaring symptom of poor play calling and offensive strategy. We have two excellent TEs, and we're not using them fully. Mac has a great relationship with Henry, but it's not being used fully. We have all the tools there, a good QB, a collection of very good WRs IMHO, two very good TEs and two really good RBs.

It's really difficult to get a sense of what this team is right now. I'm not for moral victories but there where definitely strides made, and I think we have to feel better about Mac, give him decent protection and you seeing what he can do. All in all I really feel like above all else this is a coaching and play calling problem, that and the lack of at least one elite play maker on offense. All in all it just seems like one step forward and two back.

Patriots are 31st in red zone offense, worse than even the Colts or Jets. 2TDs 14FGs the last 4 games.

This is mind-boggingly bad considering the roster has Hunter Henry, Jonnu Smith, Damien Harris who scored 15 TDs last year, and Rhamondre Stevenson. Play action under center in 2TE would work over half the time if they tried it.

This is 100% on the crappy offensive staff for red zone ineptitude

In all, the Patriots ran nine plays on offense in the red zone Thursday night. The results? A three-yard run from Damien Harris, a seven-yard loss on a reverse from Kendrick Bourne, a sack for no gain, a 13-yard completion to Nelson Agholor, a quarterback spike to stop the clock, a one-yard run from Rhamondre Stevenson, and three incompletions. (If you want to fold in one more play, that came after the seven-yard loss that pushed them out of the red zone, then you can add in a five-yard completion to Agholor).

Nine plays. 13 yards. No touchdowns, and six points.
