Patriots Release Jalen Mills (Re-Signed Later for $6M)

S versatility is silly. Dugger, Phillips, Peppers, Mills, Bryant & Jon Jones. All returning so they can just to build. Disguises will be fun.

Dugger, Phillips, and Peppers can play LB or box S
Mills, Bryant and Jon Jones can play CB or FS
Mills played LB, S and CB for the Eagles although FS is his natural position. Mills played FS all 4 years at LSU. He was drafted by the Eagles as a FS.
Mills played out of position at CB.
Need a boundary CB.

Mills is a 7th round draft pick who has put up bad performance grades the last 4 years.
Bad signing back at $6M when Gardner-Johnson just signed at $8M

Also the 3 strong safeties who all play in the box don’t help with free safety. Big problem if Jalen Mills is supposed to be the starting free safety

Your reservation about Mills at FS based on 4 years of bad grades while playing out of position as a CB is noted.

Nope. I was talking about combine metrics being almost meaningless, if that’s what you were referring to, but you can’t read.
PFF while not perfect is based on game tape and football plays. A lot more reliable at least as a ballpark.
Jalen Mills is not a good DBack. If one is going to claim it’s as a CB, it’s not like he was lighting the world on fire as a FS in Philly either

Here are Jalen Mills’ last 4 years of PFF grades. This is not a good player.

Updated now with his 2018 and 2017 grades now. Jalen Mills was also a bad safety while in Philly. Maybe next time don’t backwards rationalize everything the Patriots do as right. All this exchange unfortunately shows one needs to scrutinize chev’s logic as he/she doesn’t know how to interpret data. It’s lazy to just backwards say whatever the Pats do is a great move
