Patriots Select Marcus Jones (CB) at #85

Like Malcolm Butler, another Alabama kid. Jones started at Troy St. (Troy, AL) before transferring to Houston.
The more I watch him the more he impresses. He should contribute on STs right away.

Love the pick. I feel like he's going to be very similar corner to Jonathan Jones, but more aggressive, more explosive and more violent.

Leader and team captain. He seems to have really good man coverage skills and good awareness. The only knock on him other than his size is that he seems to get beat off the line often, but his make up speed makes it a moot point.

The best part is he's a threat on STs, so picks could be potential pick sixes. I'm pretty excited.

Jon Jones is 2" taller and ran a 4.3 40.
Marcus probably has a faster 3cone and short shuttle.

High praise indeed.

I haven't read Drew Boylhart in a while. I wondered where he was, but his stuff is always entertaining and tends to be accurate. He was always
considered sort of a mad contrarian/outlier in the draft world, but people talked about him and his analogies tended to stick
in memory. A hyena chasing a lion is sort of a tortured comp, but I'll take it as a compliment to the kid.

Anyhow, this is from the Athlon draft guide:

Jones is a true four-down contributor with his ability to cover the slot and his impact as arguably the most dangerous return specialist to enter the league since
Devin Hester
. Jones is a twitchy athlete who changes direction with ease. He will line up in press and play a lot of trail technique with the reactionary athleticism to stick to receivers. He's competitive and physical battling for the ball. He's also very willing in run support and his speed has him chasing plays down all over the field. He's simply exceptional in the return game,
showing off 0 to 60 acceleration to a top speed that obliterates angles.

4 downs and 3 phases. Yes, I think he'll be worth a 3rd round pick, I'm planning on having some patience, because he'll have a ton on his plate, but I'm really
happy to get him here and watch him evolve into a star and huge fan favorite.

I don't know much about the Serengeti, but I see the look in his eye when he's on the field and it looks to me like he wants to be special.

I didn’t like the first two picks at all, but this one is impressive, should contribute right away, good value for a late 3rd.

You seem like a cool dew...I don't mind you. Most everyone thinks that I'm fucked up for very random reasons...and I am. Whateva. Just be you. Just be comfortable in your shoes. Just remember that nobody is perfect and will ever be perfect.

Umm...err... umm...pardon me for the injection of reality.

JLs perfection says "Hidey Ho good neighbor" 👋

Hyenas won't track a lion, they run away from them. A lion tracking a hyena makes a lot more sense.
This is a great pick!
Hyenas in a pack will track, isolate, and kill a lion away from his pride.
