Patriots vs Dolphins 1PM CBS Game Thread

Question from reporter-
On the fact he said, “it starts with me,” but when do the players have to start looking at themselves and the fact he can only do so much, when is it on the players?“

Answer from Mayo-
Look, once those guys cross the white lines, there’s nothing I can do for them. There’s nothing any coach can do for them once they cross the white line. It’s my job to continue to prepare not only them, but our coaches to go out here and better football.”

In defense of Mayo, I get what he was trying to say, They're grown men they have to rise to the challenge etc ,etc. etc.
But not they're on there own :banghead:

So all those times we saw BB during the game talking to a group of players, they were only trying to decide what to have for the post game meal?

For me it's a different thing. I wonder how a girl gets a butt that round but the rest of her is slim. are they implants?

Could be. It could also just be fat determined by genetics. If it's fat, it will get bigger and bigger with maturity and wt. gain, often to the point of no longer being attractive.
That's how I see it, in the end.

====================

From my perspective, game planning, esp on D, was the worst it's been all year and it hasn't been good for any game. If you don't plan to cover the middle against Tua you will lose
every time.
The offensive scheme showed improvement last week but yesterday it showed regression to the bland vanilla plays we've seen all year.
Where is the imagination?
Where is the discipline?

But he respects the game too much to go through the motions.
Yet he made his buddy Patricia an OC for a 2nd year QB. Mad respect.

I've lost so much respect for him the last few years, and his pettiness is really shining through this year. I don't put anything past him anymore.

The first 3 quarters of this game were borderline unwatchable.

Every time I want to blame coaching, the OL commits a false start or gets nabbed for holding. I feel like if Tom Brady were under center with the same personnel, they'd still have lost 34-24. I can't get too frustrated with AVP because the groceries he was provided to protect the QB are wilted or rotten.

I am more consistently frustrated with the defensive scheming because they seem to make no adjustments an continue to be shredded. Granted, personnel is thin but it's the most talented side of the ball.

Either way, complaining is barely worth it anymore. I'd like to think Kraft knew he had to take it down to the studs and dubbed Mayo as a sacrificial "M.L. Carr" before they make corrections via draft and free agency and bring a Mike Vrabel-type in to take this team to the next level... but I think I'd be giving him way too much credit.

This team's fridge needs a good cleaning because it stinks something awful.

You have every right to feel how you want to feel and I understand that on the surface that is a bad look and wasn't good for the team. but I don't think we know exactly what was behind that and we probably never will. for all we know he had somebody else in mind who backed out at the last minute or something like that. unless we find out, I'm not willing to damn him for making a move that bad out of spite, etc. All that said, I don't hero worship bill. he definitely has his flaws and has screwed things up.

Belichick was the de facto GM - or at least final say - for close to a quarter century. He has literally had one span where he wasn't fielding playoff worthy teams. Maybe add on one other short span if you want to argue that Brady carried a crew to the playoffs. Put coaching to the side - very few GMs have had the success that Belichick has had.

That said, yes, this is a bad batch. But not as far bad as people think. With a reasonable FA past year this group wouldn't be nearly as bad, and they were left with tons of cap room and, yes, high draft picks.

Based on his actual record, it's not at all unreasonable to think that the roster would be in significantly better shape if he had stayed than it currently is. He was furious at the OL play last year, there's every reason to believe that he would have spent on a bunch of mid level guys there, plus a draft pick or two. He almost certainly would have spent the #2 on an OT - he tended to spend late 1s to late 2s on both OL and positions of need. Almost no shot he takes Polk there. More likely he trades up into the end of the first and takes one of those OLs, or back a bit and takes one.

Further, I'd wager the Peppers incident doesn't happen if Bill is at the helm.

All told, I'd say they're at 5-6 wins, maybe even 7 instead of 3 right now under Belichick.

Yes, Lowe had a very bad game. But he did win the contest with Jacobs on who could play the worst. It was very close but Lowe won by a nose.

I was at a bar eating wings and they had the game on a tv where I had to turn around to watch.
I did see one run where I said damn that guy has some burst. It turned out to be Gibson.
I’m ok with Mayes development considering the talent around him. The defense on the other hand has me concerned.

Whos in charge of the OL, coaches … again players go by what coaches tell them when game planning on both sides of the ball regardless of players. I actually don’t think Brady would have put up with this $hit to be honest.

That doesn’t change the fact that the reply was true…he is an assclown. ☕

Took the time to watch this game again and started to break it down. Too depressing. It was actually WORSE watching it closely than it was in real time.

The coaching was horrific. This team simply cannot make adjustments. Offensive or defensive. There's so much that could be said on this topic, but I'm too freakin' sad about it, because on this score the team went from driving a Bugatti Chiron to a Yugo: the feeling sucks all the time, but hits you the most when you're trying to shift gears.

There are personnel breakdowns fersher, but people aren't getting overwhelmed by talent disparity. They're losing on little things. Coaching points. Lazy technique fails. Mental errors. Simply put, they're losing on stupid bullshit that puts them in the firing line in the film room and then on the bench under the previous regime. This isn't a playoff team, but it's a team that Bill could bring to the playoffs in this year's AFC.

I had planned this to be a real long rant, with some comedy for fun (and plenty of tragedy!) but it's too depressing and I find i don't actually care enough.

This regime has a big hill to climb to get my support.
